Measure without capturing

I frequently need to measure a region of my screen's content.  All I want is the dimensions (width x height in px) to be copied to my clipboard when I release the mouse - no capture.  The information is right there, when you drag to select a region, so it's low hanging fruit.

This a long standing request, going back years.

So come on folks, let's try again.  Use the vote / me too button top right. Please, pretty please!

Do you mean this one: https://feedback.techsmith.com/techsmith/topics/measurement_tool_in_snagit?
There seems to be a few "measurement" requests; this one is the oldest one (6 years).

Yes, that's one of many.  If we just had a preset for "Measure" which captured nothing and put "x times y" in the clipboard.  The information is displayed on the corner of the selection box, so the system is already calculating the values.

Out of curiosity, what purpose would that serve to have only dimensions captured? I struggle to see how that would be remotely useful.

Rick, when I do that it creates a capture.  Now if I was truly ambidextrous I could hold the cursor still with one hand and write down the measurements with the other.

I know you are keen on using SnagIt for this purpose, but in case you are open to it, here's another tool built specifically for this purpose.

Rick and Joe, I appreciate your efforts on my behalf.

I do think though that far too much time is spent on here with a few stalwarts coming up with workarounds for people who want to achieve simple tasks - tasks for which functionality has been requested for years - but which is never supplied.

This request is a classic.  All that is needed is a preset (well trodden path) that copies the dimensions (already known) into the clipboard (another well trodden path) without taking a capture (existing functionality)

The fruit is hanging so low you can hear it squelching under your feet!

Rick.  Nice suggestion.  But you're right why would I want to use another tool.? By the time I've booted that up, I could have used Snagit which is already running AND deleted the unneeded capture.  See my previous comment.

I appreciate what you're after Paul. That's why I voted for it, at this particular moment,I'm the only one who has.

So quite frankly, if a new suggested workaround "Which I Hate them too" isn't going to work for ya. You're probably gonna have to stick with the one you got.
