For a lot of users Camtasia most decidedly does not  like the MTS container if it contains H.264 files. This causes the most stuttering and slowing of the system on many platforms, even high-powered ones with excellent GPUs, fast CPUs and lots of RAM.  Just look at the forums, Tech Support.
For those using HD video material, many of you will find that you'll have to go to other software, such as Handbrake, to convert your file to MP4 before it will behave on a Camtasia timeline.
This issue has been discussed in the forums for over a year, and no solution has yet been offered by Tech Support. Not all user platforms behave this way but many, many do.

Completely agree with you on this. High Bit-rate .MTS files tend to be problematic in Camtasia. More often than not re-encoding with Handbrake or other similar tool is required for best editing performance.
