Memory overflow in Snagit 2018 build 18.2.0

Hey, I found a memory overflow.
When the program is running in the background, the entire RAM of the computer is gradually filled.
That's sad. This has never happened before.

When you say "running in the background", had you set it to work doing something like rendering?
I've had a C2018 project open in the background since I moved on to do something else about 6 hours ago now, and it's still only using 33 meg.

I am seeing this exact same issue.  I've opened up a ticket, as you've suggested to this individual and hope you're able to confirm the problem.  I am not able to keep SnagIt running on my PC now as it is consuming all of my available memory...

Thank you!

The same here since 18.2

Does not matter what options are on or off.

Steadily sucking the juice till I close the program.

Also if I have Snagit load at Windows startup my boot time takes forever.
When option to start with Windows startup (boot) is off Windows boots much faster.

Must be subjective to hardware somehow?

I've never ran into this that I'm aware of.
I've left SnagIt running and monitored it ever since I've seen this post. "2 Days"
Normally, I use SnagIt for however long I use it and then close it.I edit a lot of videos. Allocating system resources to programs I'm not utilizing is counter productive.
Memory usage stayed rock solid with no memory creep. So it doesn't seem to be a global issue that effects everyone. That probably doesn't help those of you with the problem much. But it must mean something.

More than not memory leakage is usually a result of bad programing.

Firefox dealt with this for ages but have now seemed to get it fixed. YA

Memory leaks usually happen when a program doesn’t clear a finished task meaning it just stays in memory until you completely close the program or restart your computer.
I have never seen or heard f it being a hardware issue but can't say it's not possible.

Well, whatever it is. I had unsaved .snags and memory didn't creep on me.
So for some reason, it doesn't seem to afflict me. Yet it afflicts others. Strange.

Yep can be strange why some do and some don't.

See the solution at:

https://support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us/articles/360005047691-Snagit-Windows-Memory-Leak-in-Snagit-20...

This seems to be a known issue with version 2018.2.0, for Windows 7 machines.  I suspect it will be fixed in 2018.2.1 when that comes out, but till then this fix seems to address the issue.
