I am having problem to watch my videos. I send to my students an email with the link and password, but the system does not accept it, When they type (or copy/paste) in the text field says wrong password. We are trying several times, but there is not clue, what it is the problem. I checked folders (privacy tab) and the passwords are right. Thanks!

Likely the ScreenCast.com folder has a password that must be entered before the content may be viewed.

Exactly Rick...this is the problem. I have a password in each folder, then I send to my students an email with this link and the password each month (the system puts the password automatically in the email) and when they type this password or use copy/past, they receive a message saying wrong password. We are trying for several days, but the system is running  in random way, some time works, some times not. I sent them 9 folders, sometimes they can see them, sometime not. I tried several times too, but I do not know what is happening. Actually, I have my videos in screencast for 3 years and this is the first time that this happen. Thanks!

Sorry, but about the only thing I can think of are the standard things to check with any password. Ensure that if the password is the letter "i" or "l" or "1" or  "0" or "o" and all that stuff, they aren't perhaps typing characters that look like what they are supposed to be.

Probably not the situation here but I have seen two issues with some websites where passwords appear to be accepted but don't work after application.  In both cases the passwords appear to be accepted because no error message is produced.  In both cases sometimes a password is applied, I just don' t know what it is and other times the old password is still used.

Thus, (I use KeePass), old passwords are preserved (just in case), new passwords are documented, then applied, and immediately tested.

Rare:  Special characters.  Not sure what actually gets applied.

Not rare enough.  Password that is too long.  Most often the password applied is truncated.

Unfortunately, most websites give incomplete information concerning allowed passwords formats.

(I especially like the city of Dallas, TX website where entering a new, valid, and accepted, password results in a webpage crash.  It was reported several years ago and within the last year.  I'm sure they are working on it.  :D)

Hello ExpertNovice,
Thanks for you time too. I do not think the issue is about  long password, actually this is the first time that I use a short password (most of the time I use a long of 15 characters) and now I created passwords with around 8 characters. I change the password every month since 3 years, and this is the first time I have this issue. The new thing is that I am creating my website, thus I can offer my classes online too, and when I did the link (copying URL from the screencast site) was working correctly. I could see my videos on the website, but when I created a new password for the folders and I sent to my students by email, the issue occured and then link to my website broke. Now, nothing works, neither my students can watch the videos with the password and link that system sends by email nor my videos on website. I wonder Can the system work simultaneasly with both way? I suppose yes, otherwise, no make sense for me. I am very frustred with this situation. Did you have some experience like mine? Any clue is apprecciate because Techsmith nothing finds...thank you!

I have no clue and do not use ScreenCast.

Summarizing:

  • 5 days ago:  You create a password to a ScreenCast folder and have ScreenCast send an email to students who are then unable to access the videos using the link and password sent in the email.
  • 20 hours ago:  You are also unable to access the folders.

First thing I would try is to reboot, clear the browser cache, maybe delete old temp files.  Then try to log in.

Next thing is to reset the passwords of any folder you are currently unable to access.  If necessary have Techsmith help but the option to reset a "forgotten" password exists.

You never stated if you tried to manually access the folder, after setting the password, to see if the password worked.  This is one of the reasons I use KeePass for all passwords.  When changing a password, the old password is saved in the Notes section prefaced with date the password was changed.  Then KeePass is allowed to change the password in KeePass.  Then the on-line password is changed by copying or dragging the password from KeePass.  (No chance of losing or mistyping the password.)  This should also help prevent Trojans from capturing passwords.

This will be of no comfort to you but I searched TechSmith forums for "screencast.com passwords" and found 5704 posts.  The following link contained a response (for the SnagIt app). https://feedback.techsmith.com/techsmith/topics/unable-to-sign-in-to-screencast-com

The search was narrowed to the past seven days and yours was the only post (of 19 posts) about password issues.  If this was a general issue with ScreenCast I would think more posts would exist.

If you find a solution, post it so it will help others.

I contacted to customer support, and they still do not give me any solution. I have been talking with them for around 3 weeks. According to one of th experts,  it is working, but not, I sent logs, I sent capture camera, I explained several times and gave them proofs, but they insist that every thing is right .....however, the Earth still rotates :)

Anybody knows some platform different to screencast to put my videos ? I made my videos with Camtasia and each has quizzes (this is the most important thing why I choose Camtasia, therefore, I need a platform that support my videos with quizzes too.). Nobody is able to resolve my issue (incorrect password in my folders) in www.screencast.com (Techsmith) . Thank you!!!
