Mevo - Audio Missing from Video....Sometimes

Recorded two separate streams using Mevo. Downloaded copies of the streams to my PC. Both MP4s play fine on the computer; both audio and video. When I use one in Camtasia 2018 it works fine. When I use the other, the audio component of the video is missing. There is no audio. The audio options in the popup for the video clip on the timeline are disabled. I can't export the audio either for the same reason. It's as if Camtasia thinks the video does not have audio even though other media products recognize that it does have audio. Suggestions?

can you play the audio somehow?  can you play it in something like Audacity?

if so, export from Audacity as a WAV file, or, capture the audio playing with Camtasia Recorder

Use the WAV or new capture in your project

Cannot open either file in Audacity. It says it's an Advanced Audio Coding file and must be converted to WAV or AIFF.

You state in your original post that you can play both videos on your computer.
What/how are you playing back the videos?

Do you have the FFmpeg library added to Audacity?

If not that could be the reason Audacity doesn't open accept the audio file.

If the Mevo was recorded using the .adts codec format as apposed to the AAC codec.
That could be as possible problem.

Camtasia can not read that format nor can Audacity natively read it either.
With FFmpeg library added to Audacity it should be able to import the .adts audio.

The FFmpeg and Lame libraries are a must have if you use Audacity!

Tip:
You can just drag and drop a video onto Audacity and it with pull the audio out of it and put the audio on the Audacity timeline(s)


VLC Player which is free should be able to play the video/audio and you can also convert the video/audio in it and maybe have it work in Camtasia.

There are other conversion option that you could also use.
