My mic isn't working with Camtasia Studio. But the sounds that the computer makes are picked up by Camtasia just not my mic?

Any idea.

This can be caused from two things out of my experience.
1)You didn't plug your mic in to the correct port or didn't connect it at all
2)Even though you connected the mic, you didn't change the settings in the camtasia recorder.
You have to specify the source of audio as, your microphone.
One of these two should be able to solve the problem. If they didn't let me know.
Hope this helps :)

Thanks! that was the issue! I couldn't find the recorder settings because they were hidden!
Thanks again! :)

I have the same problem, only I made sure that I plugged my Microphone in and selected it from the audio recording menu in the recorder. Now I have a 1.5 hour interview with no audio at all! Is there any way to retrieve this, i.e. is it stored in a temp file somewhere?

I'm so angry - Camtasia is always failing. I wonder if I should move over to only using Silverback instead. So many problems and bugs and inconsistencies between platforms. This is making me sweat at work and I don't appreciate it!

Julia sorry to hear that. What kind of Mic are you using ? Is it a USB? One suggestion I always try to give to people is to do a quick audio check by looking at the audio volume slider on the Camtasia Studio Recorder (PC Version) and see if anything is registering after selecting your Mic. Also, try to do a simple short video to test the audio playback and video playback first before recording your actual content. This is just a couple extra steps I use for precautions and I know it might not help you now but might or could in the future.

I would contact TechSmith Support and ask them if there is a way to recover it or not as you did not provide to much information on how you recorded your video and the settings or anything and if you saved the project and produced it and if so to what format etc. The link for support is below:

I hope this helps a little and let us know. Thanks for your feedback and posting.

My microphone is registering audio when looking at the volume slider, yet when I record, no audio is being captured in the output, even whether I play it in the Camtasia 2 editor or export the video. I have no idea how to fix this = very annoying!!
