Missing Screencast Option

Hello,

This morning I upgraded Camtasia to version 8.5.1 (Build 1962).  I think something got bumped out of the app.  When publishing to Screencast didn't there use to be a percentage setting along with the slider here in Screencast Options?

Thanks!

I believe they did away with the text box that showed the numeric %; if you place the slider about where the % should be, you should be OK

I believe you are correct in your assessment.  However, I also believe that there should be a really good reason to removing functionally that may be used by customers.  Although I am not a developer I really can't see what would push TechSmith to remove this field from the screen.  They obviously weren't hurting for real-estate.  In my mind the only thing that's been accomplished here is to make the setting less precise by removing the field.  What gives?

In earlier versions of Camtasia, the default 50%, for some productions, seemed not quite optimum, but when set at 55% or 60%, the best balance of size/quality was produced. For now, as no % value visible, leaving the slider under the "L" in "Quality" may be a good starting point, when higher quality productions are wanted. Leaving the slider under "L" produces a file about 13.5% larger, than the middle, 50% position. It all depends on what you want to see, and how you want to see it. Perhaps test different slider settings. Can you find a size/quality setting that works best for you?

So if you like 65% or 70%. Your setting choice has been switched  to a very precise setting of, Guess.

I agree with  Eddiebo. This sudden lack of functionality is not a plus.  Sorry guys, but Just approximate where you think the slider should be. Is a lousy option.
You have more control over output when using Video Editors that cost under a hundred bucks.

I think I may be reverting to 8.4.4 over this one. I did not realize they changed this. I use presets most of the time. Now I can't even see if my saved presets have been altered.

Version 8.5.0 and 8.5.1 hasn't added anything I need, at least not that I'm aware of.

Regards, Joe
