If there is a way to turn this on and off it's completely lost on me. I've been a long time user and big fan of SnagIt but this is incredibly frustrating. Someone from TechSmith needs to weigh in here and help a few of us out.
I too am having this problem. I am on Version 9.0.2 and out of the blue, after 5+ years of using the app, my Open Capture Tray has disappeared. I'm flying blind here and would love to get it back.
Why am I still on Version 9? ...well, because the only way to upgrade to a newer version is to pay for it. That said, I'm perfectly fine with using the version I have and have no interest in shelling out more money. ...at least not until I know that I can get some support on the app if something goes wrong. Thus far, it's not looking good.
This is but one of many other threads where users are frustrated that their window has disappeared and cannot get it back.
Has anyone found a fix for the Capture Tray suddenly going missing? I see someone posted about making a Regedit update but wondered if that really worked before I call Tech Support. I don't want to be tied up for hours while they play around with my system trying things that don't stand a chance of working. I've used SnagIt for years & never had this happen before.

I think your best route is to open a ticket with support. That reg edit thread is quite old and a lot has changed since then - both in Snagit and the Windows OS.
You can go here: https://support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us and open a ticket or give them a call.
If you open a ticket, copy/paste a link to this post in the ticket.
(That will only work for Snagit 10, I'd have to research whether it works for v.11 or 12)
