How do I get back all the tool bars in snag it editor. I have nothing across the top any longer. Don't know what I did. I tried to screen capture what my screen looks like and it will not let me. I am missing everything from the top of editor. No ribbon can't figure out what I did to cause it or what to do to get it back.

This happened to me again today where not even the minimized ribbon showed.  The earlier suggestion to exit Snagit from the system tray worked, though I had to first pin both Snagit and the Snagit Editor to the system tray first.  In the past I have successfully shut down then restarted my computer to get it back.

I hope they manage to find out why it gets into this mode in the first place.

Good luck!

Restarting didn't work for me. I'm missing everything except the File-Edit-Image... menu and he quick command bar. I even checked in the Task Manager to see that it was shut down. I'm using SnagIt 2018 in Win10.

Hmmm. Too bad. I still cannot find the command in my picture above. It would be easier if the interface still had the drawing tools in it. I need to speak to my boss about an older version, it would seem.

Align is now under Image>>Arrange>>Align
Canvas snapping is under Image>>Canvas Snapping
Snagit 2018 isn't that bad once you get use to it.
That said some new things were adding and sadly :(  some features were remove.

Weird,  I don't see that shortcut anywhere next to Canvas Snapping.
I know of the shortcut but do not see it in any of the menus.
Also I don't see Combine Images under the Image menu like your screen shot. Hmm

Time for some detective work.

I am using Version 2018.2.2. I had no edit ribbon or command bar, just a captured image I could do nothing with. Only thing that fixed the issue was to uninstall and re-install the program. Matt

Eight years??  Boy did I not expect to find this thread.  Actually--the "just kill the app in Task Mgr" etc etc etc doesn't work for everyone.  Even now, eight years later, I had the exact same idiotic failure--nothing showing other than the current capture and the row of current thumbnails below it.  Nothing. No toolbars, not one single SI feature evident on the screen--not even horiz / vert scroll bars.  Sailing the cursor over the entire empty expanse of SI toolbar Siberia made nothing happen, no ghost icons, nada.  Pull both the app and editor out of the tray, restart, put both back into the tray, kill it again and again thru Task Mgr--trying to find anything other than the handful of current images would eat time and yield nothing.  Glitchy a bit, maybe?  The glaring fact is--Techsmith has allowed this for a DECADE--the exact same issue over and over.  It's not a user problem--I didn't somehow click the Hide Everything Forever feature or the Cut My Toolbar in Half feature.  It's a builder issue top to bottom. After 8 years, I'm guessing the term "support team" is someone's idea of irony.
It started when my SI would sometimes refuse to size in anything other than full screen.  (And yes, I tried every "fill in the blank" basic corrective measure.)  Then, it started to lose the right half of the entire toolbar area--cut down the center, the right half would just disappear into a blank area.  Only way I could get it to reappear was go to the pulldown File / Tools and click one like Highlight that forced the toolbar to expand to normal.  Little did I know what was coming--soon enough the entire toolbar top third of the screen went blank--just like all the others on here.
But I needed it to work.  I'm on a laptop--and I noticed the right border was just slightly off the right side of the screen--slightly--and no, the minimize / size / close icons weren't showing top right corner--NOTHING existed above the current capture.  I plugged in another monitor that enabled me to move the right border--which had no scroll bar--nothing other than the same blank empty toolbar area.  But I was able to move the cursor to the middle of the far right border--got the 'left / right' horizontal double arrows to show and pulled the right border back into the laptop screen.  Nothing.  No change.  But then when I killed the app yet again thru Task Mgr, and restarted SI from the start menu--blink.  Toolbars.  Like nothing happened.  Once I got the display all onto the laptop screen and then restarted the app, it worked.  Maybe this will help someone who is having trouble making folks realize that there's nothing up there----from left to right above the current capture.  I guess at some point, I must have grabbed the top and moved a sliver of the opened app off the laptop screen (like you can every app on the planet).  Apparently, that makes SI lose its mind in some instances.  Def doesn't happen all the time when its moved.  But trust me, you'll notice when it does.
