Mistakenly Purchased second license for SnagIt Mac as a Result of a Notice of update?

I updated Camtasia to a new version. Then after that, I received a notice there was an Update a notice for SnagIt. I paid the Fee and downloaded the download. I downloaded the File and Installed. Turned out the copy I received was version 4.0.5 the same version I've been using for at least  that  update. Evidently, it was an update for windows version though there was no description to say it was. In fact, it offered both. Now I have wasted money on Second License. 

any explanation and can I keep the License Key for the next real update.

I'm sure they will give you a refund if you ask. They just gave me one on Camtasia 3 because I made a mistake in my order.

Based on your description, I'm not quite sure how you received an update notification. Are using our products only on Mac? Is it possible that you have two versions of Snagit installed?

I only use the Mac Version.  Here is what happened : You (the company) announced last month a new Camtasia that was to pretty much equal on both PC, and Mac Platforms. So received update notice the other day I went paid the upgrade fee and install Camtasia. Then I received three emails. I received three emails two were about my Purchase of Camtasia. The last was notice they was new version of Snagit Available. So I went paid the Fee through PayPal and received new serial number then downloaded and installed thankfully i had presence of mind to choose Keep Both.  So before opening I did GetInfo on the new install low and behold turned out to be 4.0.5 the same as what I already had.  

So I haven't opened nor used the serial number.

I see. I thought maybe you had been mistakenly notified through the product.

Historically, it's been difficult for us to tell who has already purchased a new version and who hasn't when we send the release notification emails. We've made a lot of progress internally in consolidating that data, but we have some more work to do there. We certainly do not want people purchasing more licenses than they need or intend to.

What happened here is closely related to some work that I'm currently involved with. I'm going to bring this up with a few people because I think we could more easily filter out most users who have already upgraded from these notification emails.

Your welcome. I will be contact for an refund. But my 92 year old mother is in hospital and not sure if she will make it. So It may be a day or to before I can respond. I paid for purchase through I believe PayPal.
