Hello, I have a problem with the mouse click sound. I am recording without sound but I would like to add a mouse click sound. When I start recording I get the below error:

Do I need recording device to add mouse click sound?

When I start recording I have the Audio on but when I try to go to Effects->Use mouse click sound I get the below error:

I need to record without sound not to use any unwanted noises. How can I add a mouse click sound then?

I also tried to add to the recorded movie an animation from Cursors Effects tab. I can see it on the timeline when the click occurs but no sound coming out anyway. The other cursors effects are working.

Can anyone help please?

Hi there

When you tell Camtasia you want to *Record*, it naturally will expect a recording device of some sort.

What you need to do is to obtain a small audio file of a mouse click sound and add that to your clip bin, Then drag it to your timeline.

Cheers... Rick :)

Hello Rick,

Thanks for a quick reply. So as I understand I should ignore the warning messages about having the recording device and just add a mouse-click sound on my timeline.

Do I have to add it on the timeline, in every place that I have indicated the mouse click?

Thanks a lot for your time!

Joanna

this thread made me curious, so I did a little test ...

if you are able to record with sound, do so

but also set CS to record system audio

after capture, with new clip on timeline, silence the video clip, but leave the system audio clip alone

in cursor effects tab, select the video clip, then add in click sound effects

this worked for me

my test project's production ...

Hello,

I have a new problem. Everything works exactly as I wanted besides some extra unwanted system sounds like popup windows.

Is there any solution to that? Maybe if I muted my PC sound?

Thank you,
Joanna

if they do not interfere with the mouse click sounds [like they happen at different times, perhaps just silence those little noises?

alternatively, put splits around the mouse click sounds; move those sections to another track; delete the remaining [silent but some noise] system sound sections
