MP4 Audio issue when import into Camtasia 8

Hello,

I am the employee of KPMG where we use Adobe VC platform to conduct VC session and Recording on daily work. 

We also create Virtual Playback using MP4 grabbing from Raw Recording of any session.

I am facing one major issue of audio cracking when i try to import any MP4 (which i grabbed from directly Adobe) into Camtasia - 8.

Please help me here!

Camtasia has a favorite audio format and settings.If you set up Adobe to capture using these settings. I believe it should solve your issues.
Run a quick test and see what happens.

Hi Joe,

I did not understand resolution you have provided.

Here are the steps i download MP4 from Adobe and then Import into Camtasia for editing:

Step 1:  We download Offline MP4 file using raw recording of Adobe Connect. Kindly find attached "Step1.jpg"



Step 2: After clicking "Next", we get below option and i choose below settings.

  • Resolution: 480p, 600p, 720p, 1080p. ( I select 1080)
  • Bandwidth: 800kbps, 1mbps, 1.4mbps, 1.5mbps, 1.8mbps. (I select 1.8mbps)
  • Quality:  50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100. ( I select 100)
  • FPS: 10, 15, 20, 30 (I select 30)
  • Profile: Baseline, Main, High ( I select Main)





Step 3: Once click on "Proceed with Offline Recording",  I get my MP4 downloaded on desktop. And below are the details of the downloaded MP4:



Step 4: I Import MP4 into Camtasia for editing. Video looks good but Audio gets cracky.

Here please let me know how will i make my audio as same as MP4. I can change setting while creating MP4.

Audio frequency looks good. The bit rate is far to low.
Try increasing it to 128 if Mono or 256 if Stereo.

Joe is spot on -- Camtasia 8 hates audio sampled at 48 kHz (which results in crackling that is more noticeable as the volume level approaches 0 dB) and any audio program (not just Camtasia) will hate a low bit rate of 56kbps.  You can get away with 96kbps sometimes, but it won't be good quality -- and this can't be fixed after the fact by increasing the bit rate after recording; it must be recorded at a decent bit rate.  I differ from Joe regarding 256kbps -- that's a fairly high rate, and 192kbps is often sufficient.

I'm not an audiophile.
But this audio is to be reproduced and my advice is less than clear actually.
192kbps probably is "Sufficient"as you say.But falls short of as good as it gets for mp3 audio.
Not by a lot according to Adobe's Audition. The way I read this screen shot, 224kbps is as clean as it gets. So, 256 is overkill and 192 is underkill.For voice narration it probably will perfectly okay.Provided were talking mp3.


Anytime you reproduce audio. A higher quality source, is a better option than a lower quality counter part.

Lets look at an extracted .wav file from a Camtasia recording.



  1411kbps. This is a .wav file which is what I recommended for audio from the Adobe source to begin with.
I don't know if .wav is available as a source or not? But 256kbps .wav
Would be far to low of a bit rate for .wav and most certainly a very low quality sound track.

Unfortunately i am confused here!

By converting MP4 from Adobe with i have given above step, where should i make changes so that i can reproduce MP4 by raising bit rate to 128kbps/256kbps.

I am not sure which option to select with as i mentioned below:

  • Resolution: 480p, 600p, 720p, 1080p.
  • Bandwidth: 800kbps, 1mbps, 1.4mbps, 1.5mbps, 1.8mbps. 
  • Quality:  50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100. 
  • FPS: 10, 15, 20, 30 
  • Profile: Baseline, Main, High

if you could let me know the selection of those option using my steps which affect bit rate that will be really great.

None of those setting apply.
I assumed the offline recorder would give you access to audio settings somewhere.Those are all video settings.
Except Bandwidth, I assume that has something to do with your internet connection speed.

I would contact Adobe support and see what they say about this.I know nothing about that application. Or what to tell you at this point.

Try  this:  Take the recording made by Adobe, and -- from the Adobe editor timeline -- output the audio as a WAV file with a 44.1kHz sampling rate.  Retain the original MP4 video.  Open Camtasia and import the MP4 file and the WAV file.  Within Camtasia, separate the video's visual from audio -- and delete that audio, to ensure that you're using only the WAV file audio.  Verify that there are no sync issues.  Edit.

Yeah, he can't win. that recorder doesn't support better audio. I tried to chat with them a couple of weeks ago but it was nighttime and not available.

Saw this activity and decided to try again.

The bottom line is that all  VOIP recordings are compressed to fit a low data rate.  The resulting low quality is frustrating.
Are you compressed?  Depressed?  Is your resolution low?  Do you suffer from "Low-D"?  Talk to your doctor.  It will do as much good as talking to your provider.

 Adobe editor timeline is new software to install to resolve this option ... you mean?
