MTS Files in Camtasia 2019 Choppy Playback with Audio Loss

I have the latest version of Camtasia running on a powerful PC with Windows 10. I was forced to upgrade from 2018 to 2019 to edit Camtasia projects that were created in the latest version.

Since upgrading anytime I am working with raw AVCHD or .mts files the application ruins the footage. I have to convert them to .mp4 with a 3rd party software first in order to properly edit them.

Does anyone have a better solution for this?

I have a similar hardware setup as yours, brand new.
I have been able to work with MTS files, but have heard that Camtasia has problems with the container, particularly the H.264 compression codec - and you're using that in the AVCHD files as well.
My questions about this on this forum have not yet been answered, but I have been instructed by others to do as you have done - downgrade your video files to mp4 so that Camtasia can work with them.
I'm not an expert, just a user, but that's what I know.
Good luck
