My Camera won't record.

So recently I tried to use my webcam to take a video. But the preview in the window wouldn't appear ad I even tried it regardless and it showed a message stating that it did'nt record properly. I went on line and found that it could be the webcam itself so I bought a new one. Did'nt work, same problem. I'm using an entirely new webcam now so I know its not the webcam it's a problem with the software. I'm using Camtasia version 8.6.0.

Have you set Camtasia up to record the new webcam?  I'm not absolutely sure about this but, in CS8, open the application, select Tools (on the Menu) then Record Camera. There is an "Available video devices" drop down.  You might make sure the correct device has been selected.

I think it is automatically set when Camtasia is installed but not detected if changed.

Since I am only guessing on this, if it doesn't help, wait for the real experts!

I had maybe the same problem. I am using Windows on a PC, and am using Camtasia 9.0.3. My problem was that after I'd done a few recordings, the Record button no longer worked. I went in to Task Manager in Windows and killed the Camtasia Recorder. I can't remember if I also had to restart Camtasia. That solved the problem. Does that do it for you?
