your image doesn't look right?

left panel says that media bin is empty, but there is stuff on timeline; maybe that is issue?

Something similar happened to me, where Kayakman pointed out there are assets on the timeline but the media bin is empty.  My Camtasia had the same issue on a project; however, what was different from yours is my Camtasia would not shut down.

What I did was I exported the project as a zipped file.  I then went into File Explorer (windows) and extracted the zipped file.  To my amazement, there were files in in the extracted folder that I had no idea how they got in there, which did not belong to the actual project.  I deleted all the extraneous files that did not belong in the project.

I then reopened Camtasia and opened the project file from the extracted folder location.  It magically opened up with all the assets on the track and in the media bin.
