My media bin and other features above the timeline are gone/hidden

I opened Camtasia 9 and I can't see the features above the timelines.
I've tried to use my mouse to slide the timeline down but nothing is happening.

I've gone into the menus and detached the canvas. The canvas did come out from wherever it's buried.

That's a Camtasia 9 bug.Ive seen it before.
Restarting the computer should solve it.
The Canvas area is completely missing so you cannot  manipulate the UI's timeline boundaries to correct this.

This has happened again.

It's 10pm and I'm about to record and edit a video ... and I'm faced with uninstalling and reinstalling Camtasia before I can start working. C'mon!

Oz du Soleil sorry to hear this has happened to you again. I have put this into Support as it is a bug and not sure if you have or not but if not I would suggest doing it and hopefully TechSmith will get this issue resolved.

Meanwhile you should not have to do a Full Install again as when you go to Uninstall Camtasia 9 just try and use the Repair Installation instead but always at least my suggestion is to save any of your Assets, Etc. before doing this so you do not lose anything you have created. I have not had this issue as of yet knock on wood but the suggestion for the Repair Installation was recommended by another user and it seem to work for them. I understand how you fill and it is a huge inconvenience to have this happen and not sure why it is happening to you all the time. So do contact the TechSmith Support on this issue.

Thanks for posting your feedback and let us know if this method works or not and what Support has to say by posting you response/feedback here for other users to see that may be experienceing this same issue. I hope this helps a little bit for now and you like the information and sorry I cannot tell you what is happening with this problem. Have a great day/night.

Best Regars ~ Fred.

Well, a solution posted that actually makes sense.
It's the identical solution when  the same thing occurs in Camtasia 8 so it makes perfect sense.

I haven't had  this happen to me yet but I figure it's just a matter of time. I always thought that should be the way to fix it.

If it works once it will work 100 times, nice catch kayakman!

It sure beats the suggestion I've seen to hack the registry.

thanks Joe

I've only seen it happen once with CS9; and believe it or not, it was yesterday; occurred on initial launch

now I wish I'd screencasted my actually fixing it then, as I cannot reproduce the issue at will

Follow Up,

I dug a little deeper into this bug. The registry hack was suggested back in January when Camtasia Version 9.0.2 would have been the most recent version of Camtasia available.

There was also a you tube video posted depicting the double arrow appearing.Dragging did not allow you to fix the UI at that time. So it's seems the hack was better than nothing at that time.

Camtasia 9.0.3 was released since. Perhaps that's why dragging can correct it now.

I reformatted my hard drive and reinstalled my operating system and all my  programs just 2 weeks ago.

I was curious what the Timeline Height  would be in the registry with a fresh install of Camtasia 9.0.3
Considering that the hard drive has no trace evidence of any version of Camtasia whatsoever.

If anybody's altered their registry and want's to see that value as TechSmith's currently applies it, here it is.

The update to Version 9.0.3 released on January 31 2017 should have reset the registry value to it's default value of 322 automatically. However, there could have been a glitch. If you played around with that setting, you may want to check it out for yourself.
