My Snagit 2020 doesn't look like video -- can't find preferences?

I've used an older version of Snagit in the past. I just bought 2020 today, and I can't find some things.

In particular, I'm trying to tweak the settings for scrolling captures. The help video and the support page both show the top screen (below), but my Snagit looks like the screen at the bottom of the capture below:

Any ideas why mine looks different? Or more importantly, how I can get to all the granular settings shown here?

The video you pointed to is for SnagIt version 10. Really long in the tooth!

SnagIt 2020 has a capture type known as "Panoramic". The scrolling capture is still there, I believe, but based on the posts we often see here, it seems to fail quite often. In my own view, if you need scrolling, Panoramic is the way to go.

I have to agree with Rick.

A lot has changed since your last version Stan Zukowski.

As Rick mentioned, the scrolling capture is a hit and miss anymore.

Most experienced Snagit users i know use the Panoramic scroll feature.

It's much better.

Well, that's a big "duh" on my part. Thank you! I tried panoramic and it worked perfectly.

Other than the manual scrolling of the window, it netted the same results as "scrolling capture" with one significant exception -- it actually worked :^)

Given the problems with scrolling capture since day one, I wonder why they bother keeping it. (Rhetorical question!)

LOL, over the years I've observed a phenomenon here in this forum as well as others. And folks regularly HOWL and call TechSmith a bad sport and other names when features are removed.

I'm not saying this is *THE* reason that the scrolling capture remains, but it seems like a plausible explanation. ;)

I've never been a fan of the "auto scrolling" type of capture. Primarily, because I wish to be in control. And that makes the new Panoramic type of capture perfect for my own needs!

Although, to be totally fair, sometimes I do see issues with it behaving. Not often, but they do emerge from time to time.

Cheers... Rick :)
