My wishlist

Editor
01. [New] Editor: Add Rulers (Horizontal/Vertical), Floating, so dimensions can be measured
02. [New] Editor: Add 'Rotating' cutout to cutout styles.
e.g.: how to cut out a rotated 'ellipse' in 45 degr?
03. [New] Editor: Add brush tools
04. [New] Editor: Add "numbered arrows" to styles (For this I now use callouts and add 1,2,3..)I
05. [New] Editor: Editor: Add a more 'flexible' batch renaming options in the editor (selecting files, find/replace, or rename adding seq# date-time, etc)
06. [New] Editor: Add 90 degree arrows and lines, similar to Faststone
07. [Improvement] Editor: When adding/combining cutouts from one image to another, allow editing/rotating the cutouts, without having to flatten first
08. [Improvement] Editor: Allow to shift userdefined styles to the top (1st row) so they will be used by default
09. [Improvement] Editor: re-introduce folder view (as from 11.4)
10. [Improvement] Editor: re-introduce multiple profiles, (similar to 11.x)
11. [Improvement] Editor: re-introduce text capture (similar to 11.x)

Tools-Settings (Save to location)
12.[New] Save to folder: Add option to set 'save to'-folder (e.g. under Tools->Program options) to be applicable for all(!) profiles.
Exceptions on a per profile basis. Right now, after re-installing/importing profiles, the 'save to'-folder should be set again for each and every profile (being an annoying around 7 clicks per profile: file->properties->select folder->apply->okay->save, next profile..)

12a. [New] Restoring profiles:
when restoring profiles, 'save to' locations (defined under file->properties), should also be restored (not the case right now)
12b. [New] 'Save to'-location:
when, at launch, SnagIt does not find the 'save to'-locations (for some reason location cannot be accessed), then SnagIt should report an error, but should nót(!) reset the paths. I.e. SnagIt to be closed immediately, of ok/cancel. User to correct the problem, then SnagIt to be relaunched.

13. Backup styles, stamps, etc.
File->Export covers profiles only, but why not user defined styles, callouts, added stamps?

Portable Snagit
14. [New] Portable SnagIt (.exe file) - ah well, this is a request that exists for many years (for a portable solution I need to use FastStone or ScreenShotCaptor, i.e. clicking on .exe file)

Video
15. Video control buttons: make them smaller, floating or minimized whilst recording, so full screen will be recorded

I would add to editor options - Bring back ability to change editor color options that was removed between 11.4 and 12.

Like your idea about the numbers. Perhaps have a scheme similar to Skitch?

Cheers... Rick :)

great list - totally agree to the suggestions -

may I add some of mine

  • tagging visible no matter which ribbon menu you are using
  • multiple tags to be chosen at once
  • preset tagging for a series of following screenshots
  • same file format - like now realized with camtasia windows and mac can exchange files
  • default font and size and more options for defaults in general (yes I know I can make style ... but for example I still have no possibility in version 12 to have a style with center or aligned left if I already saved that as a quick style .. I then have to make the other adjustments manually ...
  • for the stamp galery to be able to move them into categories... not really efficient management of stamps
  • bring back some color of the icons... my eyes get more tired working with snagit ;-)
great that TechSmith is watching what people want!

great that TechSmith is watching what people want!
I am afraid that 'watching' may be something totally different from 'listening to'  . . .
As from v12 they have taken out so many features that many of us reverted back to v.11, regretfully so.

[New]
Add to profiles / saving: following options:
Under 'Automatic File Name' add 'Caption text' to 'File name components' - so when caption text is added, it will both be in the screenshot and used as filename.

[New]
Use same caption for next use (no need to re-type or copy paste text)

Something hit me yesterday that would be oh so useful for me.

I'm often capturing two images and compositing to a larger image. So I often configure the first image with a larger canvas, then drag in the second image. And often, I want that second image to be surrounded by an outline.

So here's the frustrating part. When I've dragged the second image in, it's sitting there in its own layer. And when I click to set an outline, I ACTUALLY SEE an outline surround my dragged in image! But after choosing it, I'm greeted with an annoying message that I have to flatten things and apply the outline to the entire image. Grrrrrr

Likewise with selecting some part of the image. I often use the blur function. I make a selection, then choose to blur. But that takes focus away and forces me to choose the area again! For crying in a bit bucket, it was JUST SELECTED!

Cheers... Rick :)

About the outline thing: my workaround is that I have defined and use my own border (under styles, e.g. very thin grey line) and add that to the second image prior to dragging it into the first.
After doing so you may optionally wish to remove the border (styles, no effect)?

Sometimes, if I want to keep an original version of the 2nd image, i just create a copy of it, then do necessary work on the copy and then drag that on into the 1st.

Am not sure, Is this what you mean?
