Dynamic Text option is to capture personalized information of visitors of our video playing on a webpage.

Because it's personalized, it will create greater interest and awe.

The personalized info can be appended to the end of the URL of our webpage where video plays.

Hi there

If you seriously need this, you might want to investigate adding Adobe Captivate to your toolbox. This ability exists in that product.

I'm not trying to steer you away from Camtasia, but my own understanding of things tells me that this isn't very likely to happen with Camtasia.

Why?

Well, Camtasia produces a video file inside of a container. Most typically an MP4 container. And once that file has been created, it's sealed. Thus, there is no communication with anything outside of the container. And that's what you need here. The ability to "talk" to the contents of the container.

So how does Adobe Captivate manage it?

Well, unlike Camtasia, when Adobe Captivate produces content, it produces a mass collection of different files. Typically a swarm of different images along with a bunch of JavaScript and CSS files. While they are collectively referred to as a "movie" in many cases, they are all loose and outside of any container. So it's quite simple to have variables that may be collected (such as a user prompted name) and then presented later using the variables).

However, I know there are some really smart folks that develop things like Camtasia. So we never know for sure what they may come up with. But my gut tells me that if such a thing eventually emerges, it will have a LOT to do with using the Camtasia Smart Player to make it happen.

Cheers... Rick :)

Hi James,

I agree completely with Rick's statement and also agree that this would be a very welcome feature in Camtasia. Even if they cannot support it out-of-box, that might be a good feature to add to the Camtasia Screencast product where I think technically it would be perfectly feasible.

In the meantime, you can do text overlay if you know a little HTML and CSS. Here is an example:
https://codeconvey.com/html5-video-overlay-text/

If you are using Wordpress, I bet there is a plugin for it.

I just started building my own site using CSS Grid and was able to add a graphic on one "layer" of the grid and put text and other items in a second "layer" of the grid. I bet you could do the same thing with video. You could probably also use JavaScript to display people's names based on some timing metadata.

If none of this makes any sense to you but now know it can be done with a little basic programming, you might want to see if you can hire someone on a site like Fiverr or Freelancer to put it together for you. I doubt it would cost more than $100-500 depending on just how complex you want it to be.

Hope this helps. -Bill
