We need some way to crop the contents of video or picture frames within a Camtasia 8 layout.

For example how do I re-size & crop a webcam inserted into a corner of a video composition? All I can seem to do is zoom the scale and pull a corner of the video off screen.

What is needed is the ability to mask or re-frame the object so only a part shows up - aka crop.

Is there a way to do this in Cam 8?

Hi Prospector Jess,
Good News!
We added Crop in Camtasia Studio 8.1.0
The Crop tool removes unwanted outer areas of a video clip or an image.
1. Click the Crop icon to turn crop mode on. (Located at the top of the Canvas in the toolbar on the right next to the Pan button.)
2. On the canvas, drag the blue handles to remove desired area.
3. Click the Crop icon again to turn crop mode off.

You can also hold the alt key down to enable crop and then release alt when you are finished.

Hopefully we don't need those pesky workarounds now.

If you have Camtasia Studio 8 installed (trial or licensed version), you can update to the new version by clicking Help > Check for Updates or by downloading and installing here.

Thanks for using Camtasia Studio!
