Needed: iPad Pro device frame (and others)

I was disappointed to see that Camtasia 2018 did not come with any new device frames. I really need a device frame for a 12.9” iPad Pro device frame. I’m sure others need newer devices, too.
Yes, I know how to use stock image and superimpose the video on top, but if Camtasia is going to support device frames, a larger selection would be helpful.

Thanks for the feedback, Rick! As we look at adding additional Device Frames for Camtasia, we'll make sure to keep that specific type on the list. If you are willing to give some additional insight into how you're hoping to use this type of Device Frame, that would certainly help us ensure we provide the right solution for you.

Cheers,

Kelly

I create demo videos for a software company. A device frame with an iPad Pro would be helpful. I also do Android demos from a Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 tablet, but I’m sure a generic Android tablet device frame would be fine, too.

Noted Rick, and thanks for the additional insight about Android. I'll make sure that we have all of these on our list for additional Device Frames to consider.

If you don't mind me asking, what is your workflow for getting mobile content into Camtasia (both iOS and Android)?

Cheers,

Kelly

I can only support this suggestion by Rick Mansfield! I would also be very happy if there could be device frames for all current iOS & MacBook Pro devices. It's best to use different environmental backgrounds (preferably motion backgrounds that are slightly blurred. I think there is such a background at Camtasia for MacOS, right?).

Hey Rob,

Currently, the motion backgrounds in Camtasia Mac 2018 look like this:

As you can see, there is a background that is slightly blurred (along with some very subtle motion in the background). Is this along the lines of what you're thinking? If so, what additional Device Frames would you want; if not, please explain so we can understand better.

Cheers!

Hi Kelly,

Exactly that motion background with the device I meant and please a few more variants (possibly with current iOS devices) and different motion backgrounds (office, quiet street, beach etc. pp).
I like such a video presentation very, very much :)
BTW is this motion background mit iOS/MacOS devices also available in the Windows version of Camtasia 9/2018?

Hi Rob,

Thanks for giving additional feedback about the types of scenes you would like to see, that's helpful!

Yes, these Device Frames are available on both Windows and Mac OS versions of Camtasia 2018. There are currently four Device Frames available (desktop PC, Apple laptop, iPhone, Android device).

Cheers,

Kelly

you can make your own custom device frames; here is a tutorial that describes how I made one for an iPhone

Hi kayakman,

thank you for this information.

However, the device frame in Camtasia that comes with it (I mean the MacBook in Kelly's screenshot above) already looks right, from perspective and light reflections etc. or in other words, it doesn't look like a fake object.

If I did it myself (like in the video you posted) it might be a bit harder to get it that authentic.

Glad you noticed that Rob, we worked really hard to make them line up properly, have the proper lighting, reflections, etc. We wanted to make sure you had some very high-quality Device Frames for your content! :)

Cheers,

Kelly

if you create your own device frame Library assets, as suggested above, you can then customize them as necessary

are you referring to Screencast.com?  that is a TechSmith service; all Camtasia users can get a free screencast.com account

but otherwise, I am just a Camtasia user, like yourself; I do own a software company, but I have no affiliation with TechSmith

is there something specific I can help you with?

Ditto.  This would be a valuable device frame for many.  I would like to add on to this idea too.  If this is an added feature, it would be nice to see the iPad version in both landscape and portrait mode.  So many apps are best supported in one format or the other.  I am sure that if TS creates one, people will also want the other.  Same goes for the already existing phone formats, landscape mode would be a nice add.

Hi Taylor, thanks for the suggestion! Can you describe what your ideal video might look like, if this Device Frame were available in Camtasia? What type of video content would be playing inside of the frame, and what would be happening outside of the frame?

Cheers!

This is the one that I utilize right now.  Admittedly, not ideal as it is pretty flat but its generic.  It gets me thinking that having the ipad up on a fancy stand.  Maybe something light this - https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51e3c%2BcweoL._SL500_AC_SS350_.jpg

Slight movement in the background and a small zoom into the device would be perfect.  Throw it on a nice table, maybe in a coffee shop with a steaming cup of coffee off to the side might be a nice touch.

Thanks Taylor, very helpful to see what you're hoping for! We've had requests for both Device Frames with transparent backgrounds (so that people can place the Device Frame and video on their own backdrops), as well as for Device Frames that already have nice kinetic background videos, like are already in Camtasia. It sounds like you're looking for more of the latter?

Cheers,

Kelly

Hi Kelly
I quite like the blurred background (has flexibility across all demographics), but a generic image would be fine too I guess (like the one Taylor shows above on a table - works for any demographic/country/agegroup). I need landscape and for an Android tablet - Ideally Tab A/S2 - but I am not worried about exact branding or even frame colour - just need a professional looking frame to show off our software.  An iPad frame would be good too.
Do you have any indicative timelines on any news ones?

Thanks

Hi Mike,

Currently, the Device Frames that are included with Camtasia have that blurred background that you described, along with subtle motion happening as well (shadows moving, light reflections, etc). Are you hoping for more of those types of Device Frames?

I hear you loud and clear on both device types and screen orientation. We definitely are looking to expand what we have available in the future, no timetable yet, but the feedback you folks are providing us helps us to gauge both interest in the feature and what type of content you're looking for, so please keep it coming!

Cheers,

Kelly

Hi  Kelly.
Yes - I like the current device frames - so that look/feel is fine with me.  Other options would be good too.
Hopefully they will be available soon.
Thanks

Hello,

Any update on potentially providing an iPad frame?

I create tutorial/demonstration videos for a software company and it would be really helpful if there was an iPad device frame. Currently, I use the Macbook and iPhone frames and believe it would be a great feature to include an iPad.

Can we please get one soon!

Thanks,

Harry

Hi Harry,

We are still working on better support for device frame assets within Camtasia.  However, we do not have a timeline yet on when that will be available.  In the meantime, I was able to find a library of device frames available for use from facebook.design.

https://facebook.design/devices

These are all transparent device frames that can be used in Camtasia, along with the method outlined by kayakman above.

Hi Harry,

Like Brent said, we're always continuing to improve on what tools are available in Camtasia, and that includes Device Frames. If you'd be interested in discussing more about how you're using Device Frames with Camtasia, I'd love to have a quick chat with you. If so, let me know and I'll have someone reach out for a quick call.

Cheers, and thanks for the feedback!
