New Version - does it finally allow for the most popular Sony video format?

The biggest problem with the current Camtasia Studio is that it will not import video from the most popular video camera - Sony.  I have to waste time putting it through a FREE utility to convert it to a format that Camtasia Studio will recognize.  Does the new version finally have this ability?  If a FREE utility can do it why can't this expensive utility do it?

I will wait to find the answer before spending even more money on the upgrade, so that I don't get another version that ignores one of the most popular video formats.

Hello Steve;

Many Sony cameras offer different formats, and the two most common are MP4 and AVCHD, both of which can be imported into Camtasia 9 (see: https://support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us/articles/203729488-Camtasia-Windows-Importing-AVCHD-MTS-M2TS- ). Note that you may run into issues if you are recording at high framerates, or have set your camera to record to full frame/uncompressed, but for the most part if you are using standard formats and video encoding, you should have little issue.
