New version is HORRIBLE. Very unhappy.

I have used SnagIt for many years and loved it.  I write a lot of technical documentation, and provide tech support via emails and it has been an invaluable tool.  My employer just upgraded from SnagIt 9 to the newest version (2019.11 is what shows in the About Snagit) and I have been using it for a few weeks now, but I am ready to go back to the old version.  This version is horrendously slow, there is a many-seconds delay on the editor opening, and just this morning, the editor is no longer opening at all. I am SO OVER this.  Anyone else having these issues?  I don't understand how a new version can go BACKWARDS in functionality.  This is SO frustrating - I use to LOVE this tool....now I cannot recommend it at all.

edit...that's it. I am done.  I have gone back to Snagit 9 - never had a single issue with this version.

If you are on a network it is more than likely something wrong with the client/server relationship that your IT guys can fix.

You're not alone. I thought it was just me and that I needed to give it more time, but after reading your post, i couldn't agree more. I'm done with this garbage 2019 "upgrade" too. The stuttering start of a capture, the awkward controls, and just the 'bloatiness' feel of it all.

I'm off to download and install 9 right now.

ATTENTION TECHSMITH: FIRE THESE DEVELOPERS AND APOLOGIZE!

Same here. I hate what tTechSmith did to thre edit tools. I want my old tools back and my sidebar widget on the left. The edit features are cumbersome, limited and destroy productivity. These should make using the pgm more efficient. Instead v2019 is useless.
Creating custom training docs everyday is impossible. My ckients are pissed! Who the hell at TechSmith approved and or ordered this crap? The developers should be fired. This v2019 is not the quality Im used to f om TechSmith nor does it meet their previous standard. Has TechSmith abandoned quality?

It's unfortunate that you're experiencing these issues; it is most certainly not what we want to have happen. Out of curiosity, how many monitors do you have connected to your computer? Are any of them 4k or high DPI displays? How many items would you say are in your Snagit Library?

I have two monitors. I have had two for many years....that was never an issue for the old version. As to how many items, I really have no idea. I'm sure it is a lot as I do many screenshots in a day.
I am using Snagit 9 now and happily it is performly perfectly.

My montiors are a DELL P2414H and a HP E242. No 4K.

It certainly sounds like Snagit 2019 should be running properly on your machine; have you opened a support ticket for further investigation?

No, I've not opened a ticket.  I needed a quick fix and reverting to version 9 worked for me.  If I have more time later maybe I will do that.

Naaaaaa - you are just unlucky as thousands and thousands of other users are the norm.

You will be "lucky" also when you open a support ticket and they get it fixed for you.

I have used snaggy since the beginning and the only "issue" i ever had was the high cpu usage issue that they fixed right away.

We have 7 users, incl. me, all on Snagit latest version, paid. 4 out of the 7 users have such serious bugs that the software is either extremely annoying, or in two cases, unusable.

I would tend to agree with this. I am trying to use it to capture a scrolling web window, which it has only done on a less than adequate basis in past versions but this version seems unable to do it at all. In the past, I was able to set a delay in milliseconds to help it, but can't find it now. I am in a corporation which tightly controls our software so am stuck with this but am quite unimpressed with this.

Have you experimented with the relatively new "Panoramic" type of capture? If not, you really should try it out. It seems to do a fabulous job of capturing scrollable areas.

Yes and it doesn't work. I'm happy you like the software. I am quite unhappy with it and am forced to use it. The only thing I use it for are scrolling windows and we are now entering a big QA/UAT session and it chokes.

Wish TechSmith would fix this one day. Have approached them on it years ago and it seems they don't feel it's important.

I am having the same problems.  Installed SnagIt 2019 and had problems capturing immediately.  Went back to SnagIt 2013 with no problems.  Just tried SnagIt 2019 after uninstalled 2013 and running a repair on 2019.  Still having problems.  Found a troubleshooting article to delete the datastore and let SnagIt create a new one but still no luck.  I hate this version and have always loved SnagIt.  So disappointed....
