Hello all,
I'm helping someone who is looking to purchase a new workstation laptop for use with Camtasia 9. I wanted to run the specs by gurus here on the techsmith forums to take advantage of your hard-earned expertise.
Please take a look at the specs and let me know if Camtasia will run reasonably well. If you have a different suggestion for a notebook or 2in1 in the same general price range (<$1500 USD) and screen size that would run Camtasia better, that would be great.

Dell Precision 5510
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
15.6" UltraSharp UHD IGZO(3840x2160) Touch Wide View LED-backlit
Intel® CoreTM i5-6300HQ
Nvidia® Quadro® M1000M w/2GB GDDR5
16GB (2x8GB) 2133MHz DDR4 Non-ECC
256GB M.2 PCIe NVMe Class 40 SSD

Thanks for reading and have a good day,
Keegan

Looks good to me; I'm running Camtasia on WIN 7 Ultimate and WIN 10 Pro laptop. Both have 16GB RAM.

Thanks for the input. Does Camtasia care that much about RAM or is it more of a threshold deal where if you have enough there isn't much benefit beyond that threshold?

Just driving the program is certainly not as critical as rendering video; the extra RAM helps reduce the rendering times in my experience.

I actually experience serious delay on the 5510 when using camtasia recorder to record my drawings in smoothdraw by means of wacom drawing tablet. While i draw there is a serious lag on the screen. The moment i turn off recorder the lag disappears. Not sure why. Is it the 4k screen of the 5510...the wacom driver.. ? Camtasia? Still trying to solve...

What version of SmoothDraw are you using?

I don't use the program myself. So I downloaded the most recent Beta version to see what would happen. As far as I could tell. It's the only one compatible with Windows 10.

I'm running a 2556 x 1440 primary monitor and a Wacom tablet.
For what it's worth. There was no lag drawing while I was recording.
I running Camtasia 9 latest version 9.1.2
