We are aware that you will experience issues when trying to use Jing, Snagit, Camtasia, and Camtasia Relay on a new MacBook Pro with Retina display. Our teams are investigating those issues right now and are working on fixes. We will update this post when we have more information.

As a workaround, if you use an external monitor you can still use our tools without any issues.

Update for Camtasia for Mac (Sept 18): "Today we released Camtasia for Mac 2.2.1, which has been optimized for capturing and editing on the Retina display. Use the Check for Updates option in the Camtasia 2 menu to download the latest version."

Update on Snagit for Mac (Sept 11): "Today we released Snagit for Mac 2.1.2. Snagit 2.1.2 has been optimized for capturing and editing on the Retina display. Snagit 2.1.2 is currently only available to non-AppStore customers. It will be available to AppStore customers as soon as it is approved by Apple."

A forecast resolution date would be most welcome.

I have to say, the workaround you suggest is really unaccaptable , maybe I can just buy another computer or use my old one to resolve this issue... common guys...

Whenever I try to do a capture on my Mac (MBP Retina Display running on Lion), the capture ticket moves extremely slow. When I do manage to do a capture, it only captures the bottom left corner of what it's supposed to capture. How do I fix this?

Hi everybody. I submitted this as a support issue on June 20 under my paid support agreement. The ticket was closed on June 22, with a reference to this GetSatisfaction thread.

Could someone from TechSmith please give us an ETA on when a new version of your Mac products will be released, so we can all determine whether we should purchase software that is more compatible with the new MacBook Pro with Retina Display?

Thanks very much.

I've already purchased specifically for my MBPR. I wish I'd known this before I had... any chance of a forecast date for the fix? If not can you advise how I get a refund?

+1, love Jing (Pro, that for some reason is going away) and it became very clear to me how much I use now that it does not work (for screenshots into issue tracker, IM, etc.). Please fix soon.

There is a problem running SnagIt latest version on MacBook Pro Retina.
The screenshot background is magnified but the windows area rectangle still in the right place. Also the capture is right.
The settings of the screen is on "Best for retina display option"

When I select a certain area to take a clip of Jing selects the proper area but then when i capture the image it ends up taking a clip of a spot down and to the left of the area i intended and zooms into it for some reason. I'm using a new Macbook 2012 (the one with retina display) and I never had this problem with Windows. I feel like I'm doing something wrong but there is no setting that can be adjusted that would affect it.... Please HELP!........

Just read this...

Yeah, what happens is that you get the bottom 1/4 of the rectangle in 4 times the resolution. When can a fix be expected, Techsmith? I am pretty addicted to JingPro and this is a practical problem for me every day.

I am also having this application. Snag-it is essentially unusable until it's fixed.

I just gave snagit lowest possible rate in the App Store with appropriate comment.. Please let us know what the ETA is for the solution - I was using your software on a daily basis and my productivity is pretty much down, even if I paid for the software. This is pretty much unacceptable . I propose all of us reading this topic - I propose we all rate the software to lowest rating in the AppStore until the problem is solved.

I use snag-it 2.0 for mac, and have the new mbpro 15" retina display. If you use the high resolution on it, it defaults to the standard display ratio and is really zoomed in. How can i have it actually take snapshots of the exact same dimension on my screen.

Duane, read the forum. There is no solution yet, I have read they target a new release in September. They should really release a Hotfix asap...

Have been a snagit customer for a long time now and like the cross platform support but it is unusable on the new retina mbp.

Rough estimate on a time to fix would be helpful. Obviously it is a known issue so I assume a patch it coming soon?

Thanks
