No audio when playing video

I'm using SnagIt 11 and when I record a video and play it back there is no audio at all. I'm using a headset with a microphone and the levels appear to be working (the levels are jumping up on the volume scale) and headset is on, the USB port is plugged in, everything is turned up and I can hear that the headphones are on and working.

Our IT department have even had a look and they can't figure out what the problem is - they have checked all the settings to make sure the microphone is set up correctly and that the computer is recognising the microphone on the headset and playing back correctly. I can hear audio through other channels e.g. YouTube.

Would anyone have any idea why this isn't working? Or anything else I should check or try? Our IT department suggested maybe it was an issue with the program, would there be a download required to fix this?

Thank you :)

Try checking your Audio Mixer setting for SnagIt.

The SnagIt editor will have to be Open.
Open the Windows control panel and go to Sound.
Click on Adjust System Volume.

You may need to scroll bottom of the window to find the SnagIt Editor.

Make sure the speaker is not muted and the volume for the editor is turned up.

Thanks for your response, I have just followed your instructions with SnagIt Editor open on my computer, and in the Sound > Volume Mixer speakers window I don't appear to have a SnagIt sound option - I only have a Speaker column and a System Sounds column. Perhaps I need to set up sound through SnagIt itself? I can't find anywhere in SnagIt where it mentions audio though.

Thanks :)

Here are a couple articles that may help

Troubleshooting Audio

Snagit 12 Video/Audio Not Working on Windows 10

Also you may just have a bad install of Snagit and it and your sound card didn't communicate
with each other and setup properly when installed.

Could try a reinstall

This is 2 years old but you saved me a heart attack.  Yes, audio was fine.  Camtasia in the mixer was muted. No idea why.  Thank you a million.  I am going to add my search text here so others find it:  Camtasia audio not working Camtasia audio mute when playing  Camtasia headphones not working
