Hello,

My only thought is perhaps you are recording PowerPoint? There is an option in PowerPoint to hide the cursor when presenting. From what I can gather, it sounds like you are doing everything correctly.

It might be a good idea to contact our Tech Support team. You can open a case using the link below and they will reply within one business day.

Sorry for the inconvenience,

Hi Mike,

I was just recording off a page in iTunes. I tried a second recording using the email of the above reply. Again, no cursor is showing. I tried it using Voila and the cursor was showing so it is definitely a problem with Snagit. I will send in a support request.

any idea on when a bug fix will be available? I need to be able to record the cursor for some "how to" videos. Is there a way to go back one release version?

Hi,

We don't have an exact date on when this will be released, but it should be shortly.

Yes, you can go back to version 2.1 by selecting the Snagit menu and choosing the "Revert to Previous Version" (as seen here: http://screencast.com/t/f6xGx8eq ). If that option is not available, please let us know and we will get you the prior version.

I hope this helps out, and apologies for this annoying bug,

Jason

Hi,

I can't seem to get my mouse pointer to show on mac.

I've created a short video to show the problem:

Hi Jason,

The "revert to previous version" is not available for me. Could you please provide the file for the older version?

If you submit a case here we can use an upload service to send you the previous version.

My cursor is not visible even if I have the "capture curser" option ON. What should be done to achieve the capturing of the cursor?

I haven't used Snagit Mac for a while. Just fired it up to do a video capture. Everything worked fine except for one thing: it didn't capture my mouse. I can see the effects of the mouse clicks on the video, but I don't see the mouse. Using Snagit Mac 2.1.1.

As stated in the previous topic that was merged here, reverting to 2.1.0 solved this for me.

So, I'm coming to the end of a trial of SnagIt, just trying it out properly, and I find that it's catastrophically broken (what use is a screencast without a visible cursor?). A full month has passed without any sign of a fix, and in order to get a working version I'd have to go through the palaver of opening a support ticket to get access to a previous version that works.

A month. To fix something fundamental that worked in the previous point release. WTF?

It is pretty amazing that a bug like this is something that TechSmith feels comfortable letting slide for more than a month. SnagIt making screen movies without a cursor is akin to a word processor not displaying text - it's all but useless. I would have expected an update to push almost immediately, but a month plus and counting?

I agree with Marty that they should have released a fix by now. It is nothing new that they are adding so it really makes no sense. I do not think their support of the Mac is top priority.

Hi everybody,
Sorry for the quiet and delays.

We are in final testing for a new maintenance release early next week. Probably Tuesday.

Sincerely,
Mike Curtis

Today we released Snagit for Mac 2.1.2. It includes a fix for the cursor not appearing in video captures and it has also been optimized for capturing and editing on the Retina display.

Snagit 2.1.2 is currently only available to non-AppStore customers. It will be available to AppStore customers as soon as it is approved by Apple.

Okay, I downloaded the new version and this problem appears fixed.

Your testing folks need to do a much better job of testing! Now after the first video is made, the capture window no longer "springs" out or back as it does before the first video is taken. You have to kill SnagIt and then restart it to get the "spring" out action back (i.e. it stays out once the first video is taken).

I can open up another case, but really, this is getting silly; I have come to expect much better total quality from Tech Smith but it appears that I may have to reexamine that expectation/belief!

This is really disappointing ...

Fails to spring back here too. Since I tend to do a series of videos at a time, I'll just revert back to the version that worked.

Mine is a MacMini 2011 with a three-year-old LCD monitor. No, no retina here...
