Not able to click on interactive hotspot within .mp4 file

[Camtasia for Mac on Macbook]

I have inserted an interactive hotspot which should link to an URL in my project.
However, in the mp4 that I've generated, I can't seem to click on that hotspot. The mp4 that I'm generating gets published into Youtube so, the hotspot should be clickable when published as well.
I have tried regenerating the file in Camtasia for Windows and that doesn't work either and I seem to have hit a deadend. Help!

you must use hotspot with player. so you can't use hotspot in youtube.

That's right. An mp4 file just can't contain that kind of information; it has to be done "on top" of the video in a player that's meant for it. In our case, that is our TechSmith SmartPlayer, which can live alongside your video if you are hosting the video yourself. Or, you can use our Screencast.com. But as Samarn said, if you're putting it on YouTube, it won't work.

YouTube does allow you to create certain types of hotspots via their site directly, and while it's more limited than what Camtasia can do, perhaps it will still serve your purpose.

Hi there

In addition to the other great information others have shared, I would add that while YouTube does appear to allow hotspots that point to URLs, as Paul said, they are way more limited than Camtasia's hotspots. Camtasia lets you link to nearly anything you want. With YouTube, there are all sorts of hurdles they toss in front of you. If memory serves, you can only link to a "verified" channel. And only FROM a "verified" channel.

And YouTube seems to be a constantly evolving playing field. What worked yesterday may be totally broken and "old technology" today. I dislike that.

Cheers... Rick :)

Thanks Samarn, Paul and Rick. After reading through your answers, I think creating a hotspot within YT would be my best bet. I am linking to a video within a verified channel so that's not a concern.
Thanks guys!
