Strangely I am not able to open the website  https://www.techsmith.com and also unable to update Camtasia software.

I have Norton Security Installed on my windows machine. Even if I disable it, I am not able to open the website also of https://www.techsmith.com. When I open it through my mac, every thing works fine.

The error that I get is
----------------------------------------------------------

"This site can’t be reached

www.techsmith.com refused to connect.

Try:

ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED"
------------------------------------------------------------
Please suggest.

not really; I have seen the same message when my ISP [Comcast] is having issues; if a domain name server goes down, it can cause the message

are any other sites affected?

All other sites are working fine and this issue  is happening for a couple of months even before I made a  purchase, that time also i was facing this issue, so I  was not able to place the order through my windows machine, I had to place the order through my Mac.

Why you can't connect to TechSmiths websites is a mystery.

I can confirm they are up and running. They were a 5AM when I checked earlier today.
I assumed there was a glitch and that's why you weren't getting through so I ignored the post.

Here we are almost 4 hours later. The websites are fine. The problem is on your end.

I would check my fire wall settings and see if you have TechSmith websites blocked.

Regards,Joe

Joe, thanks for your response. I have checked the firewall, in fact, I had uninstalled Norton Completely but still, the problem did not get resolved.

Later I added TechSmith to trusted sites also, but that did not work

Something worth a shot is to check your Host file.

I have seen many times those crap anti-virus softwares add entries to the host file which block connections to sites and programs.

For what it's worth all you need is Windows defender which is already on your machine and some smarts surfing the web ie; don't click on unknown links. Anyways I digress.

From Notepad, open the following file: c:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts

Note: you may need to go to that file in Windows explorer and open it's properties and uncheck "Read only" before you can make changes to it.

Be sure to recheck "Read Only"  (if it was originally checked)  when done editing and saving.

So open that file and see if any mention of techsmith is in the list.

If so, make a backup copy of the file first (just in case) and then delete any Techsmith entries and save.

See if you can get to the site then.

Just another possible reason Techsmith may not connect

If you need more info on Host files Just Google... windows 10 host file

As a side note... some others have had issues with updating from within the software.
You can download the latest updates here.

Did you purchase your copy of Camtasia from TechSmith or an authorized reseller?

Try the instructions on this support page. They're more-or-less the same thing Dubie posted, but they're step-by-step and there's also a video to guide you through it.
