OK Snagit, after years of being the best app on the market for the stated purpose, your latest version (which I paid hard cash for!) is dumping daily adds for the next version directly onto my desktop! Stop this immediately and fire your dysfunctional advertising manager, or your adherents will surely move elsewhere! (Me first.)

I wouldn't mind messages but techsmith goes WAY overboard with them. As bad as Corel used to be.

I don't believe you pointed it out explicitly, but there is a third option that needs to also be set.  I'm sure gss2 likely picked up on it already, but for our friend Justin...

Cheers... Rick :)

Many thanks to Rick for pointing this out! I have unchecked these annoying options, which in my opinion should never have come up in the first place. Snagit, keep doing what you do well and stay in the background please. Don't pull a Corel on us, and also please dump the advertising manager who thought he/she could get away with this stupidity!

Hi @gss2 - thanks for getting in touch. If you are seeing anything like "daily ads" that is definitely not by design and something is amiss. Can you describe what it was you were seeing (size, location on screen, message)? We double checked and there was only one promotion running in August and it should have been delivered no more than once per user. We have no interest in deploying daily ads.

Thanks for any additional info you can give.

It is a shame that we have to turn off all communication just to get away from overzealous  marketing or broken delivery system. I wouldn't mind an occasional reminder of updates, new stamps or other communications of interest
Corel was doing the same thing to the point where I wrote a snail mail. The never answered but the crap slowed way down. (seriously, how many times PER DAY do you need to be reminded of the awesome opportunity you have to buy a Lenovo Laptop with all their crap pre installed?)

Our aim is to use messaging judiciously and to prioritize relevance over frequency. The preferences are there for those who want or need to opt out for any reason...but if we're doing our job well as communicators, opt outs will remain very low. So far, that has been the case. And the amount of positive engagement on the messages is a clear sign that most customers find them to be beneficial.

I have been reading this thread with some puzzlement: what "daily adds for the next version [are dumped] directly onto [...] desktop"???
Until this thread, I had not even bothered to opt out of the options shown above, and I can't think of any such SnagIt-originated add popping on my desktop. Other applications (the anti-virus being the most frequent culprit AND, indeed, Corel) do send pop-ups, but nothing from SnagIt here.

I just checked and I too have all of them enabled. Aside from occasionally seeing the little icon in the upper right turn red occasionally, I don't recall seeing any advertising either.

Then again, I should also note that I'm using a product called Start10 that changes my Windows 10 behavior so the Start menu is like Windows 7. I really hated seeing the silly "live tiles".  So I'm not sure if there may be something related to those settings that is being manipulated.

I just turned my advertising back on. Lets see what happens
@Daniel - I had a smilie in my thing about Corel and it didn't make it through making the post sound far more serious.
Any issues I had with snagit pop up adversing go way back and do  not reflect the current version as I just got in the habit of turning it off while allowing statistics to be sent back and notifications of new versions to arrive

Wow, there must be something amiss, I've never had that problem when I've had those options ticked. Then again, it was a while back when they were enabled and a way older build. The current build is installed on a new company's laptop and I'm getting crashes all over the place so I'm enabling the data share again. Not the adverts though, at least for now.
