Your OneNote output accessory does not work with OneNote2010. Do you plan to release a current version? OneNote 2010 is much better than OneNote 2007 and seems to be gaining a much bigger user base than OneNote 2007.

Hi Michael, I changed this from a question to an idea but also wanted to let you know that I use the OneNote 2007 output with OneNote 2010 and it seems to work fine for me. I'm not on the tech team so there may be some caveats or gotchas I'm not aware of...but for basic clipping and sending into OneNote notebooks, I've not had any trouble. Have you run into problems using it with OneNote 2010?

Michael, our lead dev on Snagit noticed something:

"I did notice that when I went to download the output from the web (http://www.techsmith.com/snagit/acces... ), it downloaded wrong, it downloaded as a OneNote2007Output.snagacc.zip file, so I had to rename it to OneNote2007Output.snagacc, then I could double-click it to install, so maybe that is the problem people are seeing?"

Thanks for the suggestion, but the problem isn't the install. The accessory appears fine in OneNote 2010 but when I try to send an image to OneNote 2010, I get the "read-only" error. I can use the old-fashioned clipboard.

I verify the same issue with all options (insert at cursor, create new page, insert into unfiled notes). There is no error if you insert into an existing page but it doesn't insert anything.

Try converting the notebook to 2007.

In OneNote 2010 you right-click the notebook, choose Properties and click the "Convert to 2007" button.

Hell no!! Office 2010 was released to dev in April 2010, we're now in September 2011, 3 months shy of 2012 and to use SnagIt properly with OneNote 2010 I'd be doing conversion to 2007, going backward? So, not one, not a single dev @ TechSmith can put together a few lines of codes to make the two apps compatible?
They just don't want to.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

I concur with [Darklight]! I just upgraded all of my Notebooks to 2010, and now TechSmith (whom I've used since version 1.0!) is forcing me to downgrade, in order to use the primary feature for which I buy its product!?!?!? I can use any number of freeware snag tools that do the same crop/copy/paste-to-another-product. BUT I BUY SNAGIT FOR THIS AUTOMATION!

SNAGIT DEVS, Please listen to your long-time, loyal customers who stick with you for the few features that set you apart and warrant our $$$!

Hi, folks! My name is Larry LaHaie, and I'm a developer on the Snagit Windows team.

I'm sorry to hear about your frustration, but thank you for bringing it to our attention.

We absolutely do hear you - as a result, we have a developer on the team looking into a OneNote 2010 output. I am hopeful that we'll have news on it soon. Stay tuned!

Thank you again,

Larry,
Thanks for the update on Office 2010 (OneNote Link). Unusual for TechSmith to drop the ball on issues like this. Grateful for prompt action to rectify. Keep up the good work!

Jim,

Sorry for my delayed response; busy/weird week.

The response is my pleasure. I'm sorry that we've taken a while to put some focus on this issue, but we've had lots of exciting work in the pipeline temporarily holding our focus. I'm confident that you'll all be reaping the benefits of that work sooner than later. :)

I will let you all know when we've got something ready for you.

Thanks again,

I'm sorry to swoop in and seal Larry's thunder, but the Snagit team came out with the OneNote 2010 output today, and I know there's a hunger for it so I wanted to let you know even before it's officially on our website.

You can get the direct download as described on this post: http://feedback.techsmith.com/techsmi...

Good day. I've a user who is working with Snagit 11 and OneNote 2010 Sp1 under Windows 7 - 64bit SP 1. They are getting a reproducible error each time they try to bring the image into OneNote with the 2010 OneNote accessory.
I've deinstalled and reinstalled both Snagit and the OneNote accessory numerous times but the error still occurs. It doesn't occur if one simply cuts and pastes the image into OneNote. From what I've read here and all the "thunder stealing", is this problem still happening or is it something with my client's setup? Thank you in advance for any assistance you might provide.

This function works fine for me. I have the same W7 64bit etc.

Can use Jing to take a screencapture or make a screencast?
You can link it here, so others may see what you see, and help you,
or better still you can open a support ticket with TechSmith.

Hope this helps

However, I discovered it worked fine when downloading and save to HD *first* and then doubleclick on it.
Windows 7 64bit.

It could be that some security thing is intervening,,? I don't know.

In my case all got pretty messed up because I am running my browser in 'Sandboxie' and applying the profile from the web, caused SnagIt also to run sandboxed, which I only noticed in the end.

As the sandboxed SnagIt tried to send the capture to OneNote (which I had nót been using sofar, i.e. it was the very very first time it was launched at all), the OneNote-setup resulted in parts saved on a sandbox drive and other parts on the real C-drive...
Anyway, as said, first save to hd, then run from there.

fwiw...

Because this has been implemented I'm closing this thread.

If you're looking for OneNote 2013 support, we are tracking that as another idea here: http://feedback.techsmith.com/techsmi...

If you have other comments, please feel free to create a new topic.
