Opening system screenshots and videos in Snagit — Possible to NOT have the window overtake the screen?

I like the idea of optionally pulling system screenshots into Snagit. But I can't stand that when it moves the image into Snagit, the Snagit Editor window takes over the screen. Would it be possible to just have the image send to Snagit, but not have the Editor open?

John, I'm with you on that wish, can't stand that any screenshots bring up the Snagit editor, it interferes with what I'm doing and I often have to click off snagit to return to what I was doing. I hope someone at TechSmith will read this and pass t his wish on!!! Give us a choice, don't just send us to the editor without choices!!!

Hi,

It looks like this is possible, although the settings for it are a little buried. If you have the flyout capture window enabled, you can uncheck Preview in Editor and then you grab screenshots will no longer launch the editor. For screenshots taken with Snagit, this setting will work if you're using this window, otherwise the menu bar capture window has a similar setting that you can switch off.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Thanks, Luke. I toggled Preview in Editor to 'off' in both image and all-in-one. And (unfortunately) the editor window still hops in front of all other windows. :\

I wonder if the problem is because I'm not using the Snagit commands, but sending the image from Mac Grab (initiating with Mac screenshot commands: Shift+Cmd+5 » Option+LeftClick — to ensure I'm capturing the whole window and not throwing a dropshadow behind it)?

Gotcha, so the system screenshots use the settings in the old flyout capture window, so you may have to enable that in Snagit's general prefs to get the screen I posted above.

Hot damn. :D That worked. I had it flipped off in the capture window (Mac menu bar). Nice! Thank you!
