I'd like to have a way for the Camtasia powerpoint add-in to keep me on my current slide in PowerPoint whenI click the red 'record' button, rather than move back to the first slide.

The PowerPoint add-in respects the options in the Set Up Show dialog. There's an option there to control which slide to start from. Here's a screenshot from PPT 2010: http://screencast.com/t/pcGQuhZQiC4

I believe the option exists in earlier versions of PPT as well. After you set which slide to start from, clicking the record button should cause the show to start from that slide.

Hope this helps.

Great, thanks - that's exactly what I needed to solve my problem! Your link with the screenshot wasn't working, but I found an option under Slide Show-Set Up Slide Show, and then set the 'Show Slides' option to start from the number I want. (and I toggled on the Advance Slides manually so I could narrate).

Thanks again.
