Hello, I can't find how to do a reverse blur in Mac Snagit (3.3.6). Basically I am trying to highlight an area and blur all else. I can do it on Windows version at work but not my Mac version at home.

I  don't believe that is available in Mac version . You can blur a section which is opposite of what you want
However, if you click on the Rain Drop. You can actually paint around the area and where you Paint will blur. Which will do what you want will just take longer.

Thanks. I wasn't sure if I was missing something. Any idea if they eventually bring the features in the Windoze version over to Mac?

Have no idea. For some reason most Developers think its a pain the  ... Try to duplicate feature in both. We run into this same attitude with Microsoft.

@Techsmith, please make this feature available on Snagit for Mac. It's possible to achieve the result, but it takes time to blur everything except one area. Reverse Blur is an important missing tool. It's not a nice to have feature, and please don't wait to have a high number of votes from people. If you do screen captures, you know it's a must have feature... so I hope it will be part of an upcoming minor update of Snagit 2019. Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion! In the mean time, Snagit 2019 on mac has polygon blurs. While it's a little clunky for this workflow, it should be a little easier than adding a bunch of rectangles!

Hi @Luke Griffioen,

The URL to your video is broken. Did you implement the "Inverted Blur" idea in Snagit 2020? Technically it seems a minor feature, while it has a pretty big impact on people (like me) using the blur feature often in captures...

Hi,

No we don't have that feature yet, but I'll pass along that people would find it helpful!

Sorry about the broken link, I was just showing that you could use 4 blurs to cover the area outside of what you want to stay visible.
