Panoramic capture simple enhancement request: Use the spacebar to start & stop capturing

It would be great if we could press the space bar to Start/Stop the capture process, instead of using the mouse.

Small request, but big impact on usability! Hope Techsmith considers this easy win for their next update.

Hi,

Just to clarify, you're referring to video capture rather than image capture?

Isn't Panoramic in a class of its own? When you use All in one, you have Image, Video, and panoramic.

I think (and agree) it would be nice to begin the panoramic (clicking that start button) and end the panoramic (clicking the stop or end button) using the spacebar. Sometimes the stop or end button performs a disappearing act once you begin the process.

Cheers... Rick :)

@luke I'm referring to the image capture where you select a region, click a start button, scroll, and click a stop button. Is that not the panoramic capture? It's what the capture type is called in my Snagit app.

Ah silly me, I missed the word "Panoramic" in your post title. Thanks for the suggestion, I've passed it along to the development team.

Hi,

Our 2019.1.0 update was released today and it allows you to start and stop panoramic captures using the Enter key. We didn't use the space bar since that will scroll web pages which could mess with the panoramic workflow.

Hi,

I think it depends on how you scroll during panoramic capture. If you use a trackpad or mouse wheel to scroll, then the pano controls are still active and can "see" the enter key press. If you click on a scroll bar, then that application is the one that gets all the key presses, so you would then have to click. I hope this helps!

I'm not sure if this is supposed to be on the Windows version or not. My recollection was that this was something Mac was doing to catch up but I may be wrong.

Hi Luke - I'm using the trackpad, on a Mac, so the Enter key press should work, right?

Hm it looks like if you click on the view first then the hotkeys work. We'll have to look into why that is, it shouldn't require a click.

Hi Luke - I can't get the enter key to do anything no matter what I try - what do you mean by "click on the view first?"

Hi,

The view I'm referring to is the one that appears once you've selected your region and chosen panoramic capture:
