Placing and scaling a watermark from within the main view

I wish one could place the watermark 'live' on the main view, without the need to guess how it's going to look after rendering.

I could theoretically place an image across all frames in a separate layer/track, but then go figure how to fade it... and if it's a long moive, I'd have to stretch it all over the place... it would add another track to the endless tracks...

Need it to be semi-automatic like it is now, but with a better positioning and scaling preview that would act just like any image or video clip.

Thanks

Seeing as how the watermark is an optional thing done at the time you choose to create the output, I'm not sure how one would manage this.

I suppose it might be something that would have to be removed as an option from the options seen at the time you render, and add it as an option to perhaps Project settings?

And I do realize you likely couldn't care less as to how it would be accomplished, as long as you could see it and manipulate it before rendering. I was just kind of musing out loud in case one or more of the Camtasia development team was looking at this thread.

Cheers... Rick :)

I can't say I don't totally care how it would be done :)  It's one of these ideas that comes up right in the middle when I'm working on a video... and don't have too much time to delve and think how it will work.

Maybe when choosing to 'place & preview' the watermark it would jump back to the main view temporarily.  Kind of like the Snagit overlay when taking a screenshot.  Everything is grayed out or darker/lighter and you can scale the and move the watermark around...

Bless you for taking the time to report your suggestion. I personally know first hand how difficult and disruptive it can be. Here you are in the throes of trying to accomplish your goal, but you hit a snag. And it's so easy to mentally note it thinking you will return once the task is complete to make the suggestion. But as is all too typical, a new task appears and you move on. So kudos!

Hey Yoni,
You can run a custom production to preview, even if your not ready to render and the project is incomplete.
Go through the production wizard as if you're going to produce.
Place your watermark and make adjustments.
Then, you select the Watermarks  preview tab.
It will render a 30 second preview of your video with the watermark applied. This preview is saved to the Preview Manager under that same tab.
The preview starts from the beginning of your projects timeline to 30 seconds in duration.

Also, knowing its a 30 second preview, you may be interested in seeing what it looks like at a different point in the video.
And/Or don't want a full 30 second preview.
If thats the case you select a specific portion of the video. Using the red and green timeline indicator handles. Then do a Produce Timeline Selection As...

The preview will be what you selected, up to 30 seconds.

All your previews are stored in the Preview Manager.

You can delete undesirable Previews.
Save them for use on other projects.Rendering another preview if necessary using the saved settings.
Or simply apply the settings.

It would be nice if you could rename the presets.

Regards,Joe
