In an earlier version, the plain text callout feature had a solid white background. Now it has no background (clear). Is there a setting so that when I use it, it automatically has a white background? This would save me a lot of time. Thanks, Mary

The transparent background in the plain text callout can't be changed. However, you can use the other callout option. It has a solid box option [see below] or you can minimize the pointer of the other callouts.

You're welcome.

Another thing you can do, although a bit more work, if you want to use the plain text callout is to juxtapose a filled box behind it. That will make it appear as if it has a background.

PS: Once you get your text box the way you like it, right-click it and add it to the Style Gallery.

This way you only have to make it once and you can reuse it over and over again!

Thanks for using Snagit.
