(This idea comes what what we’ve heard here in this community as well as from other customer feedback methods we utilize. The feedback we gather here will help us gauge how well it fits our users’ needs. Please let us know what you think)

The Problem:

I need the video to play in reverse (for education, training, scientific reasons, etc).

Potential Solution:

A video effect in Camtasia which will reverse the direction of a clip

Two reactions to the Reverse Clip not being supported:
A. I can't believe it took me this long to NEED a reverse playback feature
B. I can't believe C2019 does not have this feature - Camtasia has pleasantly surprised me by supporting almost all my other video and audio post-production needs

This technique goes way back to the days of film, e.g. famous Star Wars sand people clip of 1977 to name one.

In today's internet/FB/animated emoji video clips, the endless  "bounce loop" is really important for finished productions. Please add soon!

I use this. It's a great little utility and free. I made a donation to the developer. Fast and efficient.

This really does not suffice...
In practice I use Sony Vegas, because so only bypassing:

I would like a normal solution from the developers of the Camtasia editor, this is a necessity.

We were surprised how many votes this one got. While this idea was in the top tier, there are ideas close in voting to this one that are more inline with upcoming themes we’ll be focusing on first. This is still an idea that we’ll keep at the top of consideration when our capacity allows.

Here are the definitions of what the statuses mean for Ideas.

Here is the overall vote count for the rest of the Ideas in this round up.

So when is this going to be ready?  It's a basic thing.

For now give this a try.
http://www.misterxander.fr/info/Time_Reversal/index_en.html

This does a great job and it's free.

What are the different options ?
Video Time Reversal 2 has several options to personalise the reverse process :

You can choose an output file format between the following :
   - MJPEG avi (Bigger file but process faster and better quality)
   - WMV : window movie video
   - MP4 : mpeg 4
   - Same as input file (if possible !)
You can choose to return the sound (default), to keep original sound or to remove the sound. You can also have the reversed sound in a separate wav file.
You can choose output bitrate (except for MJPEG output)

I have been posting this for years. TechSmith should buy the code from this guy and incorporate it into Camtasia.

Seriously - a great idea - this basic feature of video post-production should be in Camtasia...

Wow, just found out about Xander's Video Time Reversal. I too stare dumbfounded at Camtasia's interface with its lack of clip reversal. C'mon man!

Yes, it is so basic.  What on earth are they thinking to fail to include it?! Most bizarre.

I too was amazed this basic technique was not included after all the long roadmap of development for Camtasia ... this technique goes way back to the days of film, e.g. famous Star Wars sand people clip of 1977 to name one.

We definitely hear you folks loud and clear on this front. We want to provide this capability, but I can't give a guarantee on when. We've had an entire team working on improvements to the underlying rendering engine used by Camtasia. We still have some work there to get it to the point where we're going to be able to maximize the user facing value of that work. We want to make sure we do this in a sensible way, rather than just hacking it in. Keep on voting for this and providing feedback that pushes your interest in this feature. I'll work hard to prioritize work on this front.
