Hi Johnod,

Thanks for reporting this (and also including a nice demo video and screenshot). This is actually caused by a bug in Snagit.

In a nutshell, the Screencast.com player determines the length of the video file by looking inside the file that's uploaded. There's a bug in Snagit where this is sometimes incorrectly reported, and a side effect is that the play controls on Screencast.com exhibit the behavior you're seeing.

We are aware of this bug, but I'm unaware of any workarounds. If you file a ticket with our Customer Support system, someone will respond within one business day and they may have a workaround for you. http://support.techsmith.com.

Sorry for the bug, and thanks again for bringing this to our attention.

Hi Glenn,

Is there any update, or link to follow this topic on the TechSmith support website?
I could not find a link to follow, so opened a new support ticket c/w screencapture about this issue.

Perhaps you could also post an update here when this is resolved?

Thanks,

John S. Richards

Hi John and John,

While we work on releasing a fix for the issue, we have created a small utility that will patch MP4 files with the correct duration so they show as the correct length on screencast. Please contact our technical support and they can get you the utility as a temporary workaround for this issue.

Thanks,
Chris
