Typefaces and fonts have come a long way, and some of the nicest fonts have elements of distressing in which the typeface has areas of transparency.  A huge number of programs support typefaces with transparency, and it makes sense that we should be able to use those same typefaces with Camtasia.

Camtasia can use fonts with transparency but the thing is they have to be TTF (truetype) fonts.

If you are not seeing some of the fonts you have installed on your system in Camtasia's font list it is because they are most likely OTF (open type) fonts or badly created TTF fonts.

Camtasia doesn't recognize OTF fonts for the most part.

Most modern TTF fonts use the OTF structure today and have transparency but there are still some old school TTF fonts created that lack the abilities of OTF fonts.

If the fonts you are trying to use are OTF fonts you can try to convert them to TTF  (just Google it)  or try and find a suitable TTF font alternative.

You can also create some cool transparent font effects  in Camtasia.
