Please Techsmith, add Audio Ducking to the next version. It would make life sooooo much easier!

I love Camtasia and have used it for years now, but especially for longer videos with narration and background music, not having audio ducking is a pain.  Other, cheaper software is already out there on the market that can do this, but I'd much prefer to stick with Camtasia.  At the moment, I would say that most of my editing time is spent adjusting audio levels.

HI there

Note that I'm a user same as you. I'm not with TechSmith. I'm aware of the process for "Audio Ducking" but I'm unaware of how it might actually work in other applications.

I might think it would be helpful for TechSmith to know exactly what you are expecting with this. For example, would you expect Camtasia to somehow analyze the audio pattern and do this automagically if you clicked a button?

Or would it be more like: You click and drag across the clip to make a selection, then click a button that causes the audio to duck for the selected section?

Cheers... Rick :)

Hi Rick,

thanks for the fast reply.

yes, I would  expect (or rather wish for), that the audio patterns (voice and background music), are analysed and the music automatically ducked when the narration kicks in.  Pinnacle Studio can do this for example, but I'm sure that there are lots of other apps out there that can do this too.  Considering that Camtasia Studio is used mainly for recording tutorials (I do this every day myself, five days a week), I consider audio ducking a "must have" feature.  Having the option to select an area to duck and to be able to set the ducking level, would be bonuses too.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE add automatic audio ducking!  Like Screenflow has it.  Saves a lot of time.
