Implementing adjustable Rulers (i.e. points, pixels, inches, centimeters, etc.), and the ability to set a crop or selection area based on the selected ruler from a specific point (similarly to how shadows are assigned), would be a great feature!!!

Thanks for the suggestion, but which product were you referring to?

I need a ruler for SnagIt - or at least a plug-in that allows me to measure dimensions (pixels, inches or cm) when using some of the shape tools.

I second other users' requests about adding rulers. We support over 50 Snagit users on our system and the most common question to the help desk, how do I measure sizes or how to get a grid.
Techsmiths, please smith rules and grid.
Thank you

Oh yes, I use a couple of third party desktop rulers on my computer.
And it helps, but they always need arranging as I move between shots.

I don't know if I should add the url here or not. So am choosing not too. It is a free app.

Yes please!! I keep FastStone Capture just for the ruler, the rounded corners and for the ease of their Screen Color Picker. I know I can workaround and use SnagIt's Color Picker too, but is much quicker to use FSC's.

Exactly! I'm desperate to view a ruler in the Editor. I've been using this software for years and it never made sense to me why there isn't one. Even Word has a ruler. I love this software and it keeps improving, but this seems like an oversight.

Hopefully in version 12 in about 1-1,5 year from now.
Actually, I have to confess that I am using FastStone Capture as well for some program elements, such as recording, where SnagIt has this big control bar at the bottom preventing me from recording full screen.
In fact, it is a bit of shame having to deviate to another product in some cases...

Add Guide Lines to SnagIt Editor.

Allow to create custom horizontal and vertical guide lines in SnagIt Editor that I can use to precisely align elements. When I create or move an item, have it attach to guide lines when it comes close to it (as if magnetic).
For example, if I want to mock up a new screen from a screen shot of an existing screen, such guide lines would make it much easier to align new labels, fields, and other screen elements with existing ones.

Thank you all for your thoughts on this idea. Though I cannot currently speak to whether or not it is on the roadmap, I wanted to offer this alternative for Windows users for the time being! I'm sorry I don't have an update for you! :(

Ruler and Drawing Guides for Alignment of Objects.

I was just curious if you guys were ever considering adding drawing guides and possibly a ruler to the Snag-It editor. The drawing guide would be exponentially useful when aligning objects. Please let me know if this is on your roadmap and/or something you would consider?

Thank you, Trevor

Adding rulers at minimum is desperately needed in Snagit. I would also add the ability to place a guide line. Similar to Photoshop wherein clicking and draging from the ruler, a vertical or horizontal line is dragged into place to help align objects. These are not part of the image and are easily moved and removed.
