Poor video when recorded live into Camtasia 2018

I use a mirrorless digital camera via an HDMI to USB adapter (Panasonic Lumix G7/Elgato Cam Link) to record high quality video into various apps. This works brilliantly in everything I point it at, except Camtasia 2018. Camtasia produces jerky and sometimes pixelated video - not of usable quality. I have adjusted frame rate down (25fps) to fit within Techsmith's recommendation.

When I record in Zoom, Powerpoint, OBS I get perfectly smooth video, as I should, because the camera feed is presented to the PC as a standard USB video source.  I've tested on a number of PCs and had the same issue. I've also communicated with other universities and they have the same problem.

I know we can record talking head with something else and import into Camtasia. I work in a university with busy academics who are both time and technology-skill challenged so a single solution is required - one that I assumed Camtasia would deliver.

Oddly, this setup works fine in Camtasia Mac 2.
