Portable version of Snagit

Snagit Windows currently requires an install and, similarly, Snagit Mac uses user directories to store user preferences and captures. So they both require you to store information or the app on the computer you use it on. We’ve had requests to allow Snagit to be put on a USB drive or network directory. This would help those in order to use it on the road, across multiple computers, and for those with machines that are regularly wiped.

Now this is challenging for a couple reasons, if we are able to even do this, there may be some caveats for a standalone version if this garnered enough support. It may take some time to change our app around and we may lose some functionality if you choose to install it in this way (e.g., scrolling capture, capture metadata, and connectivity with our mobile apps won’t work as expected).

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Portable version of Snagit.

Snagit is a great productivity tool (I just updated to 2018) and it's become a must have for my professional life as an IT consultant. In my daily business I need to document, modify and communicate pretty much anything that can be found on screen, esp. document snippets and screen design.
On the premise of a customer, though, there is often a tight restriction when it comes to installing software on corporate clients and therefore the capturing functionality is usually limited to Windows-own tools such as Snipping Tool.
Enter: Snagit Portable... or so I'd wish. And I'm not alone - check this out (just an excerpt of Techsmith's own community idea blog):
And we're talking years of "please listen to our requests"...

Now, dear Techsmith's Senior Strategy Lead Development Marketing Specialists: please do, so that we can enjoy more great updates in the future, so that our customers can enjoy more professional deliverables which would perhaps even make them consider to purchase TechSmith products for themselves, which have you enjoy an increase in revenue and ... :)

Best,
Russell

I am in exactly the same position.

I either need to find another product and am now looking at moving to something else.  I cannot wait forever.
