Possible to have two animations working simultaneously, yet independently of one another in an object?

I am having a hard time making a scaling animation and an opacity animation work at the same time on an object.

This is what I'm attempting to do. I want text to fade in for a couple of seconds, be on screen at 100% opacity for a couple of seconds, and then fade away over a second.

While this is happening, I want the text to scale from 100% to 115% during the entirety of the object.

Since I cannot find a way to have two animations working independently of one another, I have tried adding 3 custom animations to the object. The opacity works fine, however when the scaling happens it scales at 3 different speeds since the scaling is not even between the 3 custom animations.

Any ideas?

Apply first animation to piece of media, then group the media and add the second animation to the group.
