Powerpoint required?

Trying to import a PPTX file in Camtasia Mac 2019, and it wants to look for the Powerpoint app. I don't have MS Powerpoint installed any longer; I'm using an Office look-alike called Presentations, that creates PPTX files.

So, is Powerpoint itself required to import Powerpoint files into Camtasia?

As far as I'm aware, all the import really does is kind of automatically cause PowerPoint to spit out images of each slide and add them to Camtasia.

I'm thinking that if your look alike can generate images from each slide, you should be able to just command that to happen and simply add the images to Camtasia as a separate operation.

Cheers... Rick :)

I believe it is required, so if that is a problem for you, here are some options I use frequently (even though I have PowerPoint).

PowerPoint, there’s an option to export slides to PNG (graphics) files. In that dialog, I export them to 1920x1080 (you can select that as an option), then I import them to Camtasia. If your product can do that, that’s one option.

Another thing I sometimes do is open the deck in presentation format, then screen capture each one and paste and or import the media into Camtasia after the fact.

Finally, you could go into presentation mode, use Camtasia to record each side, then just use the images captured from there. A side trick is if you don’t feel like using the video, there’s an option in Camtasia to export a frame to PNG then you can import it back into Camtasia.

Hope some of these workaround options are helpful.
