Press hot key twice to activate

I'm using Windows SnagIt v2018.1.1.  I've set the hotkey to be "F10" which previously worked fine.  Now when I press F10 it does nothing until I press a second time.  Then the capture type window appears (with the big red button) to click to start the capture.
Is there a setting I've missed?  Ideally, I'd like to press F10 and have the image crosshairs appear since 99% of my captures are image.

Hi there

Have you configured a special profile to do this or did you simply assign the hotkey to the main capture window?

Cheers... Rick :)

Under SnagIt capture preferences, I changed the Hotkeys first entry for 'Show/hide Snagit' to F10.

I can't recall how you reassign the main capture key from PrtScn, but if you create a preset for your preferred image type (region , windows etc) you can assign F10 to that as a hotley.  I just tried that and it brings the cross hairs up immediately for me.

Fwiw, F10 is the same as alt in firefox and both brings up the  menu bar at top of browser.

So why not use standard prtsc (printscreen) instead of trying to reassign F10 anyway?

Thanks, Jason.  I reverted to the default and the product works as it's supposed to.  It's a case of retraining someone who got into a bad habit with the first release of SnagIt.  I've used SnagIt since it's original release.  At the time my keyboard needed a Shift+Print to do a PrintScreen.  I changed it and have been using it like that ever since.  Bad habits die hard.

Tell me about it. I actually painted some Tippex fluid above the new key and then coloured it with a highlight pen so that it stands out. :)
