Prevent Computer from Sleeping for long renders/exports.

Windows 10, Camtasia 9 and 2018.

There should be a option to click so the computer won't sleep while rendering. Many videos ago I did a long recording and began to render it and I left the room for a while and my computer went to sleep. When I woke it up it started to complete the render. I'd like to be able to prevent the computer from sleeping during renders.

I understand the rendering and exporting a long video can take some time. This would be beneficial for me that I wouldn't have to navigate to windows setting and prevent the computer from sleeping or having to babysit the computer throughout the render time.

there are Windows 10 settings that will let you set the computer to never sleep; maybe look in Power Settings; can't remember the exact spot

"Sleeping" is a function of Windows, not Camtasia. You need to change your settings in the Windows Control Panel under Power Options.

In Windows 10 if you are using a Laptop then there are other Options for setting the computer to never sleep in Power Options from your Control Panel. You would also want to go into those options to set the time the Display and Battery are turned On or Off when the Laptop is plugged in and not plugged in.
And last but not least you may want to make sure that your Screensaver Setting in the Control Panel is also set to None so it does not kick in and interupt anything when you are Rendering/Producing your video(s). Especially if they are longer ones which with those I just Render those before I go to bed and check them in the morning. Hope everyone's suggestions has helped a little bit to solve or answer your question. Let us know by posting back here.  As stated above this is not a setting in Camtasia Software or any software for that matter it is under the Windows Environement and has to be set from there. Thanks for posting and have a great day/night.

Yes, thank you all for the suggestions. I am aware of the power options under windows. I understand this is a function of the operating system and not the software... so now I have to ask... why can't Camtasia make those changes on the fly?

Or...

What about having Camtasia pop-open the Power Settings with a suggesiton, "Please consider adjusting your power settings to prevent your computer from sleeping during export." then pop then open again after exporting?

This would be great to have but this is not something that is related to any software as these settings are more in the Operating Systems and I am or have never seen any software that does this automatically without making manual adjustments in the Operating System. Some audio software have options for performance but it is not the same as Windows it is ust to help with thier software.
As bnystrom stated below it has to do with the levels of permissions and most applications do not have that built in so you have to make these manually in the Operating System Power Options most of the time that I am aware of currently.

I have yet to see any application that can do that. It probably requires a level of permissions that applications don't have.

Right, most applications are prevented from opening system functions. Those that require that level of control will ask you to agree to those permissions when you open them, an annoying fact if you don't need it to access system functions normally.
