Problem with fade transition

Hello... and thanks in advance for any assistance anyone can offer

I've only been working with camtasia for a couple months so if this is a silly question I apologize!

I put together a video with a series of slides with bullet points on them.  I've been using the fade transition effect to make the bullet points smoothly appear as the video moves from slide to slide.

I have 1 slide though that's not behaving how I want.  The entire slide fades to black and the next slide appears with the bullet point... instead of a smooth gradual transition between slides.  It goes black and the next slide shows up.

I've tried messing with the fade transition... I've deleted the fade effect and re-added it... I've even deleted the slide & re-applied the effect... but nothing seems to work! I can't get the effect to work how I want

Can someone offer me any advice on how to get the fade effect to work for me?  I've spent a day trying to fix this and  I'm sort of frustrated

Anyway... once again thanks for any help anyone can offer

Hi there

When you say "slide" it seems to imply that you are using PowerPoint. Is this the case?

Assuming the answer to that is yes, I might ask if this happens when you simply play the PowerPoint slide show. If so, this is something you need to focus entirely upon with PowerPoint and would have nothing to do with Camtasia.

Now that's not to say that myself or others won't still try to help you sort it. Only speculating where the issue may lie.

Cheers... Rick :)

From what I understand you have some images that you try to connect using the fade transition. Although I do not have the fade to black problem, there seems to be an issue with the fade transition. When I add several of them to connect video parts, at one point fade only works half, usually ignoring the video part that's supposed to fade out. When I replace the fade transition by any other transtion effect, the problem isn't there. So it appears to be only the fade transtion misbehaving like this.

What may help is to reset the fade transition setting in Edit -> Preferences. Uncheck "Use trimmed content in transitions". Then see if the transition works correctly. If so, check the same setting in Preferences again and see what happens.

Rick... thanks for the reply

After playing around with it for a while I discovered the slide in question had a tiny gap in between it and the preceding slide.  I've been lagging my audio behind the transition of the slides and the slide aligned with the audio instead being directly adjoining the previous slide.  The gap between the slides was showing up

Anyway... thanks for trying to help me!

Fade through black and regular fade transitions can get very glitchy if you're applying it to grouped media that contained 1+ levels of subgroups. That could very well be the problem.

No groupings were applied in any of my cases.

There is a setting under the fade transition called "Use trimmed content" - uncheck this option. This should smooth out your fade transition

PS I was also using a group in combination with a tranistion
