I'm not really sure what you mean when you say
Well, no problem other than a Goth interface that is harder to use than it needs to be anyway.
One thought, though; is this 64 bit Windows 7, or 32 bit Windows 7? (You can tell by going to the Start menu, right clicking on "Computer" and selecting "Properties". Look for the "System Type" description.)
The overwhelming majority of Windows 10 installs are 64 bit. A significant majority of Windows 8 installs were. But the market for windows 7 was split more or less evenly between 64 bit and 32 bit installations. Camtasia 9 only runs on 64 bit machines. If you are trying to run Camtasia 9 on a 32 bit Windows 7 installation, it won't work.
I have issues with typing on it on windows 7My main Camtasia 9 platform is a Windows 7 Ultimate machine, and it runs without a problem.

As I stated... I AM using Windows 7 64 bit, and I have no problems at all typing characters into the annotations. It's not clear whether you're the same person who posted the original question or not. Are these characters in English, or another language? Which version of Windows 7 are you using? (Home, Ultimate, etc?) Have you tried different fonts? Etc, etc. There has to be some common thread if you're having a problem with this but Windows 7, as such, isn't it.

As Mal stated, check your font. If it is too large for whatever it is you are typing in, or on, then you might only see the first letter as the other letters are not viewable. I have seen this in various applications.
From your answer to Mal's question any typing you do in C9 is only allowing you to type (or maybe see) only the first question. If that is incorrect, consider stating what object you are having issues with typing.

The problem where only one character is showing up when typing in annotations that is a known issue that we mostly see on Windows 7 machines. It happens when a right to left language is installed. One workaround is to copy text from MS Word and paste it into an annotation or try using the Legacy annotations as that should work as expected. Hopefully that helps at least work around the problem in the mean time. Sorry for the trouble!

I install Thai language that is left to right language and has the same problem. When I use legacy callouts. It has no problem.
to solve this problem,
1. type text in notepad then copy and paste into annotation.
2. type your text into annotation even you see it one character. then choose all text with Ctrl+A then adjust font size. all of texts you type will show in annotation.
two solutions are for English and other languages.
or
Try to change format to English in Language in Control panel. with this, you can type english character with no problem. But other language has still problem. and can solve it with 2nd method above.
